Rest of squad (possibly the most important part)
Cleal, Morrin, Te Maari, Groom, Nanai, Youngquest, Holdsworth, Kite, Barba, Crisp, Warburton, Ryan millard

* I expect Hazem might retire at the end of 08 (unfortunately) if he gets injured again this year

* I expect Cleal to be re-signed, as well as Morrin (player power will get him a new contract)

almo love your support of little Daniel Holdsworth, you are very brave.
unfortunately he will not be in the starting side next year.
Roberts will be 5/8 with BK half back. No room for him unfortunately.
Definately Hickey starting and not Cleal, as he and Armit will fight it out for the last spot.

I tell you what there are some great sides amongst that lot. How exciting. Just hope we can put it together with our new coach.

This whole thread is obviously pure speculation. We could well sign another prop like Galloway or back like Boyd, Haz may or may not retire, Hughes may still be somehow re-signed, Armit or Hickey may go elsewhere. Who knows? But as things stand, here is my team:

1: Patten
2: Winitana
3: Morris
4: Millard
5: Utai
6: Roberts
7: Kimmorley
8: Hannant
9: Ennis
10: Hickey
11: Maitua
12: Ryan
13: SB Williams
14: Sullivan
15: Kite
16: Kouparitsas
17: Armit

Other than 17 where i would have cleal, our teams would be identicle. At this stage. Lets hope for another signing or two and Hickey to be re-signed.

Currently, my 2009 side would probably look like this:

01. Luke Patten
02. Hazem El Masri (Nanai/D.Millard/Idris if El Masri retires)
03. Tim Winitana
04. Josh Morris
05. Matt Utai
06. Ben Roberts
07. Brett Kimmorley
08. Jarrad Hickey
09. Michael Ennis
10. Ben Hannant
11. Sonny Bill Williams
12. Andrew Ryan
13. Reni Maitua
- Interchange
14. Aaron Groom
15. Chris Armit
16. Nick Kouparitsas
17. John Kite

Yeah, I just remembered Tsolous. Obviously depends on his recovery from his injury. I don't buy into that BS about him retiring. But I would have him or Armit as the 2nd prop on the bench.

Nice team Haztrick. Like Groom on the bench. Dunno if he will get a run as backup Hooker or if he wants to play there but First Grade is First Grade! Better than Reserves right? I would have him there too but I don't think he will get much of a chance there.

I'd put Roberts at hooker with Corey leaving... unless Ennis signs on with us.

1.Patten
2.Nanai/Youngquest
3.Morris
4.Winitana
5.Utai/Idris
6.Holdsworth
7.Kimmorley
8.Hannant
9.Ennis/Roberts
10.Hickey
11.SBW
12.Ryan
13.Maitua
----------
14.Tsoulos
15.Kite
16.Sullivan
17.Koups

This would notably leave out Armit, Cleal, D. Williams, Te Maari, Groom, Millard, Crisp and Warburton, with Roberts, Idris and Youngquest possible exclusions too.

Add to that young up & comers Harrison, Worsley and Barba, we have got depth at all positions... and a real headache with player retention!

I like Harrison, he hits hard for a skinny kid and he's not just a dumb forward, he's got ball skills.

Have to put some meat on him before he makes the step up to 1st grade.

This is the best team i have seen in the forum, just add some young guys for depth.

19. Barba
20. Worsely

I think Idris will give Utai and Nani a run for a wing spot.

Daryl Millard should become a backrower. Keep him as depth.

He did struggle. Now he plays big minutes and has gotten over 200 metres a game in Under 20's! And that improvement is only in 10 weeks!

I'm not saying he should get a run this year, maybe he should, but with the rest of this year and a full off season training with the First Grade squad, he will be more than able to handle the step up. Both in terms of pace and ability.
