I didn’t live there thankfully, but wasn’t much better off in Blacktown. I had many friends around Mt. Druitt area though, so I spent some time there in the late 90s to 2010. I never had any problems myself, but heard some stories from my mates. Many of the shitter areas it was obvious. Used to do a lot of work around there too.

Spanian goes to all these random “hoods” but I can’t recall any shocking me. Again, possibly because I’ve seen some shit. There were some depressing scenes in Waterloo, Druitt and Cambo though tbf. Just made me glad not to live in Sydney anymore.
I never lived in the Druitt.
I was on the other side of the tracks and highway.
Whenever I brought anyone from Mt druitt to my hood they thought it was high society?

There was a good one near me did the crispy pork one as well with the crackling etc..and was cheap like 6.00 for pork 4.50 for chicken. Then the son came in, maybe lost his job around covid? Anyway he came in renovated it and added eftpos, before was cash only and he put the prices up to 12 dollars plus a roll. Absolutely killed it for me havnt been back since.

So fresh and filling man
Just a glorified subway my man. in Australia they make an effort to give you an 'authentic' banh mi but reckon you sell Sydneys best in Hanoi they'd laugh. Viet friend at work told me the best he'd had in Hanoi had fried chips in it and that you can get them with kebab meat.

So in Sydney we sell 'authentic' banh mi that locals in hanoi wouldn't touch. And yet in Hanoi the locals eat them with our junk food.

World is a weird place.

To me though - bun cha beats banh mi every day of the week.

U meant to eat that? Thought the noodles was just packaging :grinning:

Cannot go past a decent meat ball in any cuisine and bun cha are one of the best.

The only Vietnamese thing I love more than Pork Rolls is the women. My goodness some of the Vietnamese chicks I’ve seen…

It looks amazing
Cheers for the heads up.
I'll give em a try for sure.
I have been living under a fucking rock it's not even funny.
Banh mi are a pain to make at home, too many bits u have to get right. Bun cha are simple and you can smash heaps on the grill.

The trick - always, and I mean always - get the best and freshest fish sauce u can get. World of difference.
