What Baz is highlighting and he did this last year by rotating the halves is that the club does not have a FG half on the books. After signing Burto, Baz said he will need all the support he can and will need time. Nek minute Burto expected to carry the team. We need an old steady and experience half and take the focus away from Burto.

Round 3 saw Trent absolutely bottle it and throw away all the positives we saw in the earlier 2 rounds by disgracefully dropping Jake only 2 games into the season. Nothing but pure panic all because our edges didn't ice the numerous chances we created the previous week in round 2.

Dropped from THIRD for line breaks to SIXTH with us only creating ONE tonight.
Dropped from SIXTH for line break assists to SEVENTH with us only creating 2 more than the worst team.
Dropped from THIRD for line engaged to FIFTH.
Dropped from SEVENTH for support runs to ELEVENTH.
Increased from SECOND for decoy runs to FIRST.
Dropped from FIRST for run metres to FOURTH.
Dropped from SIXTH for post contact metres to EIGTH.
Dropped from SECOND for offloads to SIXTH.
Dropped from EIGTH for missed tackles to NINTH.

Clear drop off in where we were at during the first 2 rounds, both with the eye test and on paper. Weather is not an excuse as we played in equally bad if not worse conditions against the cowboys a who are currently SECOND and BEAT them. Lack of any sort of combination play tonight and overall were just a shambles in terms of organisation and direction. Biggest concern was Burton, he was basically strangled out of the game and got junk ball towards the end of the set to kick it or aimlessly run it. The chemistry between him and Wakeham was non existent, JMK was also back to his uncontrolled best..again, chemistry?

Burton had 42 touches today and 5 runs. Time in possession 26.08m.
Round 2 he had 57 touches and 13 runs. Time in possession 34.48m.
Round 1 he had 56 touches and 9 runs. Time in possession 29.29m.

As you can see numbers are well down even when you consider the drop in possession. Wakeham handled the ball 40 times in only 66 minutes for comparison. Burton also kicked the ball with 13 of those possessions, so he kicked with almost a THIRD of his touches. Unfortunately round 3 was a clear step backwards for both the team and individuals. I was angry tonight, something i didn't feel the previous 2 weeks. i I will pass on this weeks Psychologist's bill to the club.

We need to just accept the reality of where we are at in this rebuild.

It's gonna be very frustrating and disappointing. But we will have some memorable moments. There will be no sustained results until the 2nd half of the comp by the looks at best.


The team has been very competitive and right in the 2 x match lossses up to the final minute.

We are working with one arm tied behind our backs with just 2 of 4 spine players being effective. 7 and 9 are junk.

The guys are much better defensively than last year and we all said the team has a severe Loser vibe about them from years of lacklustre roster and results. That appears much better but still it's there in their body language. The lack of discipline is a big factor.

It's going to take time and Barrett needs to change tact from a game plan that is not suitable for our new combos and team mates. If he doesn't adjust then there will not be much progress until Mahoney gets here.

Barrett's attack game plan was never going to work with the roster we have and Gus or other coaches need to advise Baz if he can't work that out for himself by now.

This is obviously an over simplification of things but so is that. Games 1 and 2 we created numerous chances but failed to ice them, game 3 was however a disaster and a step in the wrong direction. I'd honestly argue that Manly have been and were worse than our opposition during the first 2 games, made about a billion errors and have had zero control on conviction in their play. To make a key change only 2 games in was ridiculous when there were at least some very small wins forming, whatever decision Trent made to start the year he should've stuck with and flip flopping only after 2 games in shows nothing but his complete lack of leadership and incompetence.

Top 4 teams? I'm not even thinking about them. We've got a serial excuse maker as a coach lol, dude blames absolutely everything other than himself. He coaches the team he wants and not what he has and tries to play a style heavily reliant on an on the ball halfback and ball playing lock, both things we don't have. Also wants to play ridiculously flat when it takes our hooker a fucking year to move the ball lol. It's a shambles yet he still managed to find some small wins and pissed them all away after 2 rounds.

It'd be good to see JAC used a little like turbo was in origin as almost a second fullback on some sets to get him involved. He's probably struggled to get clean ball due to the conditions over the early rounds though

I always feel less confident when I see rain. This year moreso. We have added a lot of speed to the side this year, which is nullified in the wet
