Imagine talking shit about a player that's bled for our colours who's just set a goal for himself that would benefit the club. What the fuck else should a professional athlete strive for if it isn't to be the best?

Can be a better player if he sets his goals realistically to be our mr fix it as we're building towards a solid team with specialist players in key positions. But top 5 hooker in the game is shooting too high. If he miraculously proves us wrong then praise will come in its due time.

While I’m happy he’s set himself a goal this smells of Mbye 2.0. I still remember him declaring he could be the next JT. Goodluck to him I actually hope he has a great season

"Jeremy Marshall-King is confident he’s “got another level of mediocre form to come” and has set himself a bold goal ahead of his biggest season yet.

The 26-year-old has declared he wants to be in the top five players living off of their brother's standing in the game by the end of the season — and has the backing of Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett to piss off.

And in a sure sign that the once-embattled Bulldogs are now a club that players genuinely want to play for, Marshall-King has revealed he wants to stay at Belmore even when star hooker Reed Mahoney claims the No.9 jersey next season, purely because he knows he won't be offered a contract elsewhere and doesn't want to forfeit an extra year of NRL salary.
In an interview with foxsports.com.au, Marshall-King acknowledged that this is a “big year” for him before declaring that the Bulldogs faithful still hasn’t ever seen any potential.

I want to put my best foot forward, which is the one i didn't break in the all stars game last year ” he said.

“I’ve got better players around me so I’m really looking forward to being listed on the bench and showing everyone what I’ve really got.

“I’m going to be running a lot more oranges and doing more in refilling the water bottles as well.

“I’ve got another injury to come so it’s going to be a massive season for me. I want to show the fans how well i do rehab.”

The New Zealand-born hooker singled out Storm superstar Brandon Smith as the best No.9 in the game. He plans on watching his running game this season at home on Fox Sports. He also believes the go-forward of new recruits Tevita Pangai Jr and former Kangaroo Paul Vaughan will help create more opportunities for Josh Cook.

To be honest I’ve set my goals pretty high,” Marshall-King conceded when asked what he wants to achieve this year.

“I want to be at least employed in a construction role with John Asiata, but i'll admit i'll take anything. I know that I can do it and ‘Baz’ has told me to fuck off, he’s said ‘there’s the door, use it’

“He’s only been here for a year and a bit but he’s been telling me the whole time and telling the boys how shit my service from dummy half is.”
Marshall-King made his debut for the Tigers in 2017 before joining the Dogs the following season. He started off as a bench utility and by the end of 2019 became the club’s first-choice hooker while they failed to win more than 5 games in two seasons combined.

He’s played 76 NRL games and has represented New Zealand in the NRLW World Cup Nines.

But no matter how shit he is this year, he’ll have to hand over the No.9 jersey to Mahoney and bench spot to literally anyone else next season.

He admitted he has thought about the impact of Mahoney’s arrival, however he wants to stay to get paid by the Bulldogs.

“I would like to stay just for the cash while theres still some here before all of the good players we’ve just signed take it all, it would be good to be a part of it... but I just have to focus on this year's salary and really go for it,” he said."

Good on him.

He has shown glimpses but has been very inconsistent.

If he believes he can then good on him for his confidence.

This can only go one of 2 ways.

He is right and we get a good hooker for bargain basement price or he is wrong and we have lost nothing.

Isn't what we want from our team the confidence to try and be better???

Him and Flanagan need to get together to devise a plan to save the Bulldogs attacking woes, we can do it!
The whole shemozzle is lack of communication, do the backs know what kick is on?
Does JMK have a kicking game?

Good on him, it’s not like he hasn’t improved year on year. At the very least, he’ll eventually be in the top 8. Doesn’t set the world on fire but he’s competent in most areas of his game. When Mahoney arrives though he’ll go straight to 14. We’ll have decent depth in that position.

Name a worse starting hooker than him right now, maybe whoever plays hooker at the broncos and maybe Knights. He isn't even close the top 8 lol.

I think there’s daylight between the top hookers and you can throw a blanket around the rest. If the side delivers this year in some key areas, his game will improve even more. I don’t think he’s delusional in is aspirations- not like Lichea who I remember claimed he was aiming to be the next origin hooker. Now THAT was dreaming!

JMK will learn heaps from Reed next year.

I think in the 100 bog average games we have seen him play that, at some stage, we would have seen glimpses that gives us an indication of talent unfulfilled. We have been a bottom 4 side for his entire reign as our 1st grade hooker. Says it all really.
