It was the 80s mate there is no argument to this !!!!
1980 we won GF
1981 they won GF
1982 they won GF
1983 they won GF and beat us twice in semis
1984 we beat them in GF
1985 we won GF and also beat them in semi final
1986 they beat us in GF ..... only just
1987 Parramatta hibernation started...
I don't get that living near the training ground thing either. It all stemmed from young country kids being housed by clubs in places nearby training bases.
Willie Mason lived in the Eastern Suburbs while playing for us. Most people commute to work and have no major issue so long as you're not...
I thought Eastwood was good for us. Only went pear shaped at the end after a ridiculously stupid back ended deal and fair enough too he was entitled to that money.
Guess it will come down to game day scheduling, whether it's an earlier game on the same game day versus held on separate days. If the latter would be easy to sell season tickets separately and then offer a discounted add on if you wanted both.
Plus home and away different rounds so don't think...
I also think Crichton will be given a few weeks at fullback, most likely because he would have been promised the chance to play there when he agreed to join us. While it might also have been a statement for more money, he obviously had ambitions to play there as he did so during the World Cup...
The ones I don't get are the utilities like Hutcherson, Salmon etc. Okay with Mann but otherwise we need proper forwards who are specialists. We have plenty of backs.
Get what you're saying but they have a pretty stacked forward pack that chews up a lot of the cap so there will be players they have to shed as well. Plus they'll need more money soon for Blore (who I really rate) and Utokamanu.
Time will tell I guess. Just seemed to me to do things by instinct that I thought often ended up being the right option. Maybe I've got this one very wrong, after all I thought we could scrape into the 8 at the start of the season. Lol
Think his best attribute is what's going on upstairs and how he handles himself under pressure. Think he will be a very good solid and consistent first grader.
It was a seriously bad choke. They had so many chances to win it. What shocked me was Fitzgibbon's reaction to the loss. To be fair didn't see the no try but so much wrong with their performance and he seemed happy with them. Not a good demonstration of the hard winning edge mentality many in...
Watching it now on replay, Booze trying every trick in the book to railroad him. Jimmy nailing the dickhead and Braith even threw his old Dogs jersey back on. Love it !!!!!!!
Probably a clutching at straws attempt to claim a breach of general protections for a lack of a safe work environment. Damages are uncapped from memory.
I'm willing to back the club on nearly everything but I cannot back this decision under any circumstance.
Jason Taylor is a first class f&$+ing moron based on the following:
- Personally dealt with him years ago on a night out and he was so mentally vacant it wasn't funny;
- Knew a guy years...
Not using names here, I've heard a couple of people now mentioned. One is a certain captain who loves cultural holidays and the other a certain player with a top name .... just wondering which player is the one who doesn't like watching WWE on TV?
Thinking about it and immensely struggling to accept it especially now there's speculation of looming legal action. Could just be dickhead Buz laying the boot in but if true ... what a fucking joke !!!!
The difference with the Broncos successfully rebounding in 3 years was they had a potentially excellent emerging team & were just missing a good half. They also had at the time a heap more quality juniors coming through their system. Our comparative problems ran much deeper.
Big call and I love the guy but starting to feel that way too as we don't have the team to utilise him. Only concern I have is after losing Averillo's speed next year I think we will need the Fox if we want to score long range tries.
In a short period of time he is already starting to look like he's been playing 1st grade for some time and seems to have steady head on his shoulders, and doesn't hide when things get difficult. May not be a super talent but I already love his attitude.
Agreed and I think we already have our ideal 14 in Flannagan who can cover hooker (to give Reed a rest) / half (injury / HIA). Also like someone's earlier suggestion of trying Xerri in the 2nd row with Preston at 13. Xerri potentially could be like a Nikora sort of player. Also if a back goes...
If the players were nailing their goal line defence, understood their defensive structures, knew how to play a structured attack, had great and consistent tackling technique and were winning the ruck then I'd be like sure you don't need to be doing a full day every day. Until that starts...
18th minute after the following:
- we have a disallowed try after 6 minutes
- they score their first in 10th minute after a piggy back penalty
- they score their 2nd in 14th minute after flimsy defence and also a missed knock on in the prior tackle
- 18th minute we have our first sin binning of...
I think we all know he can't lead the team around the park, just like many other 6s going around. Hopefully that's not Johns' main reason for saying he's only a centre. It's why we've tried so damn hard to get an organising 7 over the past few years. Doesn't mean Burton can't be a damaging ball...
Did Buzz write this? Everyone else saying 850k freed up and this article says $750k. If it were the Roosters I'm sure he would have said $1.15 million freed up.
Interesting, yeah I think we only have 4 issues that won't be easy to resolve:
- An elite 7 if one becomes available (Sexton may prove to be somewhat okay but that depends on Burton stepping up)
- Our go forward (Mids)
- Our defence (lack of effective & consistent technique) to manage the ruck
-...
Sliding doors moment which I'm not too disappointed about. Given what was to come from 2018 onwards he would have jumped ship at the first opportunity. At least if we get him soon the club will be in a better position to utilise him for success.
Mostly agree with you. Here's mine all in order.
Contenders
- Panthers
- Broncos
- Rabbits
- Cowboys
Pretenders
- Eels at full strength are contenders but they've been walking the tightrope for too long now and will likely burn out
- Storm have a lethal spine especially with Paps at his best...
An example of shutting trauma out of our memory, it seemed so long ago and for me still the most idiotic signing we as a club have ever made especially when we were meant to be saving cap space and from memory were still allowed to front end contracts at the time.
It' seems like Buzz was having one of his home office benders 2 years ago, wrote this article and had it ready to go out before he passed out and forgot to send it off.
Fast forward to July 2023, in a frenzied search for half a bottle of whiskey he misplaced the previous night, Buz stumbles on...
The thing that frustrated me about Foran was we had the patience to get him right before he jumped at the chance to fill in for NZ when they had an injury and got himself injured again. That was taking the piss and sure enough he was fine afterwards. In saying that having DCE beside you takes a...
He was one of NSW's best I thought this year which was great to see after a really ordinary series last year. Think he's a great signing wherever he plays because he's a natural big stage player while plenty of other players going around aren't.
Probably the point when they stop singing his praises and drop him to reserve grade once or twice. We persisted with Flanagan because our other halves were also shit / not ready and also because of how much he was earning.
Hopefully just speculation, it's irritating we keep getting linked to 6s when we don't need them.
Just throwing it out there .... does anyone think he could become a skilful 13?
Either way wouldn't want him for that sort of money.
I think that's the key as it's either he or Burton at 6 at this point in time. Not sure yet how much of an organising half he is which is what Sexton is. Plus can't see him signing for anything low so we'd be have to pay a fair amount for him to be willing to join.
Might eventually end up at Gold Coast or Dolphins. He came through Keebra Park. Apparently always played centre and has only played full back this year.
Just watched the interview tonight. It was Man against Boys in terms of their attempted interrogation of Hagipantelis. Every trick question they tried he gave them answers they weren't expecting accompanied by additional explanation and rationale (probably an old lawyer trick).
They had to...
I have a bit of a theory on the Wighton signing. I think they've actually signed him to play FB and have plans to move Latrell back to the centres, in order to reduce the workload on his hamstring and keep him on the field for more games.
I have no problem either if we are allowed to do this but I think we know how it will play out with the NRLol.
Edit - The issue is the NRL does not have transparent and defined rules in place, everything is determined either on a discretionary basis or with discretionary oversight so that each...
Good suggestion. Thinking as a 'workplace' thing it would probably go to the Federal Court and have widespread implications for all sports that utilise salary caps.
Said it before and I'll say it again .... Scrap The Cap
The whole NRL is so fucking corrupt with zero transparency and accountability. The cap is simply a tool to favour their preferred clubs. It was never ever about team equalisation or saving the competition to stop teams going broke.
Well said. While I wouldn't have had him in our top 30 you can't fault his passion and love of the Bulldogs. If he had a choice then he did the right thing for the club standing aside for Sexton and deserves the chance to say goodbye on Saturday. Don't think we need to dance on his grave, so...
Think you hit the nail on the head with those examples as those clubs and supporters are looking for a way back in.
Can't see a current NRL club or its supporters embracing this though. AFL supporters in Melbourne are all in with their football support, often as a family and irrespective of...
Followed up with excessive and consequence free whinging and complaining to the ref. The only team that does the co-captain model with 17 players each week.
I'd give Crighton a go over Avo at FB as Crichton consistently plays well in big games and seems to be a magnet for being involved in the defining moments of a big game, but I feel Avo has shown enough where we should have tried harder to keep him especially for his versatility. Just hope it's...
