the latter, Des is a lot of things but stupid isn't one of them. But like Spoonman just said, doesn't matter how it happened, just that it happened!

Des as time went by was looking worse for wear - it dawned on him that the final contract to be signed was being stalled on and he realised that the Heads of Agreement was not binding - but, we mistreated Des in my view - you don't tell someone we are good to go for 2 years - and be passive aggressive on him and deny him finding a coaching role elsewhere.

The Board have fucked up yet again and I would not be surprised if they end up settling out of court to wipe their mess. I am not proud of how Des coached and I am not proud of how we managed him out. There are idiots running our club and they need to be moved on.

To me it just sounds like Des got played by BIG DIB
You are right and I don't think the Family Club would accept this level of shafting people representing the Club. Big Dib is not honouring the values of the Club by stalling the coach for 6 months thinking he had 2 years. Unless he was told we will finalise the contract if you make the 8 so the moment that did not happen, Des realised it was over. That does not explain why Des would take it to court and expect a payout though.

Does anyone else think this non-binding stuff is a bit sus? Would Des and his management be really that dumb enough to fall for this ? Or is this the boards way of saving face and making out like no great loss, even though a large undisclosed settlement may still take place...
Look at the way Des carries on at every press conference bullying journos like he's a God of rugby league. He's very confident in his own ability and never gave up trusting his players to come good. He signed an extension with a clause under which if we made the top 4 "this year" he would receive a bonus ($2M total for this year) but if we failed to make the top 8 the Dogs could terminate and pay him shit. Won't go to court - unless they got the wording wrong in a technicality. Des wouldn't risk losing a dollar to a lawyer in fees.

I guess more of the finer details ( terms, clauses) will come out eventually . Either way he is gone and if he wants the full amount he will have to go to court to get it ,so it will drag out..

Dib trying saving his own arse.

Elias stood down from the board earlier this year.. I wonder ... could HE be mounting a rebel ticket?

NATHAN RYAN (Fox / Grain of Salt) reckons the payout figure is $600,000, and that talking to players by Dib sealed Haslers fate.
Elias wouldnt have the nerve, he didnt leave on his own accord, he messed up seriously with a potential major sponsor and had to go

plus no contract has been signed all it is is a understanding betwen the club and haslers management. it was their form which was signed and it was their form which stated that the agreement is non binding. Hasler and his management only have themselves to blame.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happier than anyone that hasler is gone regardless of what it has cost or what it will cost... however if there is a large payout and it is covered up, then the dickheads responsible need to be ousted and be held accountable...

Regardless of whether it was binding or non-binding the fact is that there was some kind of agreement and strong enough for the Club and Board to announce the 2 year extension earlier this year which is enough evidence in itself for an agreement of some kind to have been formed. Dib is not the sharpest tool in the Shed and reiterated on 2GB this morning by both Jones and Hadlee that this will be a costly move that has been handled poorly by a board of "Perennial Bed Wetters" that could not see further than making a call to save their own positions.
How much do the football club directors get paid?
3 of the 7 directors also sit on the leagues club board.
Personally I think dib is the weak link.
The other directors I have no problem with, especially Anne Sinclair, Andrew Farrar & Anter Isaac.

No payout for Hasler: Bulldogs

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs chairman Ray Dib insists the club will not be paying out sacked coach Des Hasler's contract despite announcing the former coach's extension in April.

Hasler was given his marching orders on Tuesday after months of speculation came to an end following the Bulldogs' poor 2017 season.

With former CEO Raelene Castle also departing, the board agreed a fresh start was required across the club with high profile recruits Aaron Woods and Kieran Foran signed on for next season.

Speculation the Bulldogs would be required to pay out Hasler's final two years of his deal was shut down on Wednesday by Dib, who said Hasler's new deal was a verbal agreement and not official.

"Back in April of 2017 we entered into a non-binding agreement with the coach," Dib told bulldogs.com.au.

"Des's contract ends in October 2017 and the board has made a decision not to renew that contract.

"Going forward there will be no liabilities moving forward for the next two years."

Dib said the board came to its decision following a review and input from senior players at the club.

The announcement comes as the club also farewelled skipper James Graham and local favourite Josh Reynolds last week to all but end a formidable era at Belmore.

"We've finalised an end-of-year review and have decided the time is right now for change," Dib said.

"The findings were clearly there we were due for change and this is the right time.

"It's always a tough decision, especially when you've got a high profile coach that spent six years at the club and got us to two grand final appearances."

The players were notified of Hasler's demise prior to the official announcement on Tuesday afternoon.

New recruits Foran and Woods were also told and Dib remained adamant the pair remained committed to the club.

"The senior playing group were involved in the thorough review and I've spoken to some senior players and advised them of our decision," Dib said.

"We keep in constant contact [with new recruits] and I've spoken to both of them not long ago and advised them of the new direction of the club.

"They're looking forward to wearing the blue and white colours next year. With a new coach, CEO and marquee signings in 2018, the time is right."

The board are now on the hunt for a new head coach with Canberra Raiders assistant Dean Pay considered a favourite, while former Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire is also an option.

Dib said the club was yet to open discussions with coaching candidates.

"No one at this stage, we've got to open it up and look for the best available person," he said.

"We've got passionate fans who deserve better and hopefully with the changes we've made it will bring success quicker in 2018 and beyond."

That's why I think Des will win if he takes it to court.

Don't think the Dogs will want it go to court as Des will spill the beans on the behind the scenes.
Court costs money matey.. and if he is the tight ass that everyone say's he is id say its not a chance
