Perry was a better player at Newcastle than Manly. They spent their careers there because they knew Johns made them better than they really are. Coulda/woulda if Thurston stayed. The fact is he has never guided a team to a title.

During the 2001-04 period he was amazing, with johns being the nsw halfback though he was never going to get a chance at a rep career.

Have to agree, allot of qld fans will try to bag him because he became an immortal instead of meninga and lockyer but even lockyer said he was the best player he had ever played with/against and he played with the 90s broncos.
