Just thought I'd throw this out there
Cogger is better than all our options at 7.
Meaney is a better FB option than Taaffe.
Funny how we can improve alot in some areas, but go backwards in others.
Can't wait until Oniell and others are ready for NRL.

If a team was being selected on trial form and the form of the second half of last year - Mahoney would not be in the team - Mann may be a better option at 9 and let Curran n Salmon share lock.

Wings & half back are the most contentious issues.
Crichton looked like he was not 100% fit in his 20 minutes.
Taafe did not have his best game but is our best option. Those comparing him to Perham will need take off their welding glasses. Although dropped a couple of high balls, he was in correct position. He was in the correct position to defuse grubber kicks & tried linking into the backline. All things that Perham could not do. Hopefully a better game then in round 1.
Salmon has been impressive & so was Curran, hard choice for starting position. Faumausilli was impressive also. Not wanting to be controversial, not overall sold on Hughes yet. Lots of expectations, not at his best last year & had a good game against a reserve grade Storm pack. Hopefully a breakout year in 2024.
Taaffe also organised defence well, he was barking orders and telling players where to go.

If Taaffe, Wilson and Hayward are in the team there is no way we are beating Parra.

You've got dicks for brains if you think Wilson has bad hands Wilson caught every bomb in 2023 except 1 at the beginning of last season in reggies. The play the ball errors are an easy fix, apart from that, he was solid and fearless.
You obviously haven’t seen him play in NSW cup. Guy would bomb open try’s or dropped intercepts atleast once a week.

This is all true, but keep in mind he is a fullback being turned into a winger. Wingers always pigeon holed as an easy position, but it's alot different to fullback. No doubt FB is more difficult, but in the top grade it's not without his challenges, especially when you are trying to make it in a poor side and the risk of making in error is exponentially compounded
Agree, the skills set of a winger and fullback are not identical, but they are similar. The Big difference is in defence.

After the trials it has to be this but it won't be. Let's see how long Ciraldo is stubborn for.

My team,
1. Taaffe
2. Kiraz
3. Critta
4. Xerri. Would prefer he has a couple of games in 2nds, but no better Option at this point.
5. Fox
6. Burton
7. Sexton. Prefer a right foot kicker as alternative to Burton, otherwise Mahoney will have to do a lot of kicking from dummy half on the right hand side.
8. King
9. Mahoney
10. Hughes
11. Kikks
12. Preston
13. Salmon

14. Poasa
15. Curran
16. Mann
17. Edwards

18. An outside back to cover as concussion sub. Wilson or Skelton.

Honestly, Mahoney has just turned into Adam Perry who was a very good hooker but didn't really offer anything in attack that would get the defense worried.
