I have always thought Cummins is a "home ground special" ref particularly in games well away from Sydney where the big majority of fans are for the home team and he succumbs to crowd pressure.

That is so true. I commented to hubby about exactly the same thing. Funny isn't it how the home town decisions granted to the same side by the same official were against two sides that were still in the game and the Knights were having trouble putting them away. Not many points in it and first penalties to the away side granted late in the piece in one game and not at all in the other. Means the Knights were perfect for all but a few plays in the game.
Round 1 Count was 5-0; penalty and ruck infringements 7-3 in favour of the home side . Our infringements awarded @61.26;63.55;74.52 when game was gone.....
Round 12 Count was 9-1 penalty and ruck infringements 1-0 in favour of home side inside 10 2-0 favour of away team.

The refs are not as dodgy as some of the touch judges - home town touch judges have decided plenty of games. There use to be one in Brisbane that was a shocker when it came to crucial decisions - he ripped off the Bulldogs on a few occasions with his one eyed calls on off side and forward passes.

The pressure they are under. One wrong move and they get dumped. Do it again and it’s career ending.

I have 2 theories. Maybe the nrl is panicking that all the QLD sides, Newcastle and Canberra suck and might not make the finals so want to give them a leg up. Or maybe too many people had too much money on Manly 13+

That is really the worst I've ever seen of a coach casting an assertion of cheating by a ref.

The secret must be ...stay calm and be besties with Annesley.
