Cameron Smith has stated that Wighton is versatile (obvious) but mentioned any team could chuck him at 13 and he would excel.

So my question is, would you have Wighton play 13 (taking his age out of the question).

Personally I think he should play left centre at club level now, but id definitely take him at lock as it would play right into Ciraldos style
He would no doubt make a good number 13. Many players can.
But then you’d be paying 1.1 mil for an untested 13.
For 1.1 mil, you could get a confirmed specialist 13 with runs on the board like Isaac Yayo.
I don’t think there is a lock in the comp who gets paid 1.1 or we couldn’t get for that money.

We need a half only it’s that simple.

I understand he'd want $ more than anything, but I can see him taking less at a club who could win a comp... Probably not us though. For example could see him joining Latrell at Souths or Hynes at Sharks.

We aren’t the club to win a comp. So many people keep saying this.

I actually don’t think this willl be his major concern. I think it’s cash only. He has a settled family in Canberra. Thsi is almost certainly a ploy to milk a little more out of the green machine but if not, he will be going to the highest bidder. He won’t leave his family to take unders. He just knows after his career is over he’s just another rural aboriginal so is trying to cash in while he can

Lol at sticky playing the loyalty card, wants him to stick around and help the club just like they stuck around and helped him.

I hope he stays a Raider for the rest of his career but if he left to play for a better team to win a comp all power to him.

Mentioned it before that Jack Wighton would be a great #13.
Gus just said the same on 100% footy. Clubs mentioned were Raiders, Dolphins, Dogs.
The Dogfather was very coy on the subject though and deflected saying he'd have to take a pay cut and go to a big club who's premiership window is open.

To me given his past on the panel talking about Ciraldo, I think Gus is keen on Jack for sure.

Are we a chance? Gus just spoke on 100% footy. He sees Wighton as a lock. Weidler said Raiders mentioned Dogs as a club interested then he said Gus said no (we know this is always not the case) then Gus went on saying it depends what Wighton wants at this stage of his career and he sees Wighton as a lock.

I just posted the same thing, didn’t read your post. We saying the same thing. I think we are a chance here as well. Thompson and potentially TPJ coming off our books. Leaves us more than enough but obviously not gonna break the bank for him.
Again, depends what he wants at this stage of his career.

I don't think Wighton is worth paying huge money for but if he leaves Canberra, I could see Saints or the Tigers overpaying for him..

Gus said if he left because he wanted to join a side with a premiership window opening then that was the right reason.

Canberra Raiders have tabled him $4.4m over 4 seasons. He’ll re-sign. Objective achieved. It was always about getting the absolute most he could out of the Raiders and they’ve caved.
