If you do the maths it looks like we could have around 2.5M to spend on currently "unsigned" players for 2025 - more if we move on RFM and Sutton
Out of those below who do you think would make the biggest difference to our side if you had a budget of around 2.5M ?

Say 3 players in total - 2 players from Group A + 1 player from Group B but keep in mind that in Group B SST would be available for 2024 whereas you'd have to wait until 2025 for May meaning we'd be more under strength for 2024.

I'd go with AFB AND May because we need not one but 2 good props in my opinion AND Dearden OR Luai (approx 2.5M - 2.6M). I really can't see us going far with SST as our number 1 prop in 2024. He'll be lucky to play half our games.
You could even go for 4 players if you went Paps, Dearden, SST and May. (approx 2.6M)

Group A
Ryan Papenhuyzen (approx 900K-950K)
Jarome Luai (approx 1.1M)
Tom Dearden (approx 900K-950K)
Addin Fonua-Blake (approx 1.1M)
Joey Manu (approx 1.1M)
Luke Keary (approx 800K)

Group B
Sio Siua Taukeiaho (approx 400K-500K) Available 2024
Terrell May (approx 400K)

AFB & May 100% with Deardon feel like cowboys will hold onto him for dear life. With Luai depends how he goes next year end of the day we need a halfback if he can show signs his capable of such maybe. The Penrith obsession deters me though.

If we had a halfback and good middle Manu all day reckon he will thrive outside of that soulless club.

Priority 1 is AFB.
Then May.
might be all that is needed.
Good halves, behind shit packs never win comps, but plenty of average halves have won on the back of killer packs.

I don’t think you are going to get May for $400k. There is such a shortage of quality on the market. His value will reflect that and be substantially more than $400k.

As much as we have struggled without a decent 7. It’s middles where we have been hurt the most. We could have had the best 7 in the world playing with us and the lack of middles would have made them look average.

I don’t care about any other signings but we need two quality middles before worrying about a 7.

400k closer to what Rooster will offer him and we'll obviously not get him for that. 500-600k is more realistic imo.

de Bellend tho not a prop but reportedly on 550k 3 years ago. May will get something like that (at least) with the shortage of props with a fair few teams vying. The market.

de Belin's been on 750k reportedly for a while. Before being stood down de Belin was one of the best middles in the game (obviously cap has changed a lot since then).
