Terry Lamb was / is the epitome of what it means to be a Bulldog.

Gave everything for the jersey. Constantly played with pain killing injections, but left everything out on the field.

Of course we've had some magnificent players over the years but Terry is up there alone ... especially in modern times.

My idols were -
The best forward pack in RL history - Langmack, Folkes, Gillespie, Battese, Kelly & Tunks
The best Grand Final Try ever.....Steve Gearin and Greg Brentnall
but the best of the best - Lamb & Turvey.

Who was your idols or your favourites from the Doggies? For me - When I was growing up my idol was Greg Brentnall and when he retired it became Terry Lamb. Such good players and kept trying on the field until the end.
Johnny Greaves, John Rhodes and Lol George Taylforth.

Must've been from some height?
I liked Reynolds for his never say die attitude in his first stint here.

My faves though.
Sherwin- The bloke was so good at throwing a pass and getting to the outside of the player to be on the receiving end of the next pass, I reckon he could've thrown a cutout pass to himself. And his kicking game was phenomenal. While we had very good wingers when he was at his best. They weren't the big athlete prototype that was becoming the norm at the time. But despite that he could find them with a perfectly timed short kick frequently. I'd love for him to be able to impart these ability to some of our young halves.

I could go on for a while. I think by the time I hit my teen years I started to see more of the little non flashy things players did. Hookers that tried to specialise in dummy half running aren't my favourites. Would much rather a 9 that can time a perfect pass 95% of the time than a 9 who frequently runs when they should pass. I'm not of the opinion that halfbacks need strong running games. It's a nice bonus, but it's not a required fundamental skill for a 7. Workhorse props can be as useful as a monster impact player.

In general, some of my favourite players haven't been big names or even highly talented. But they've played a handful of games with 100% intensity. Anyone remember Kane Cleal. For those who don't, he's the son of Noel Cleal. He didn't inherit his size or skill, but the handful of games he played for us were standouts for me just in the amount of courage the guy showed. He'd hit it up at full pace every time, he'd get smashed and pretty much bounce up ready for the next hit up. He was never going far in the NRL, but his attitude just made him a favourite of mine.

Agree with the forward pack. We had blokes like Brohman, Gould, Jim Leis, and Robbo at the same time
