Parramatta Eels forward Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Paul Vaughan of the St. George Illawarra Dragons have been involved in the sea rescue of a mother and son who were drowning off the coast of Shellharbour on the New South Wales south coast.
The NRL duo were reportedly swimming at the local beach when they spotted the family struggling in a rip.
Thinking on their feet, the former New South Wales Blues teammates sprung into action and were first to reach the scene before further help from the Shellharbour Surf Lifesaving Club arrived.
Peter Gavin posted in the Shellharbour Surf Lifesaving Club Facebook page to praise the two rugby league players for assisting.
"Just like to thank these two great footie mates for assisting our Patrol to rescue a mother and son who got into trouble in the rip to the north of the flags late yesterday afternoon," Peter said.
"Paul Vaughan and Reagan Campbell-Gillard were first to reach the struggling mother and son who had signalled for assistance."
According to Fox Sports Australia, the incident occurred over the weekend but the ex-State of Origin teammates chose not to go to the press about it.
Absolute legends.

Bad publicity is the best publicity for these parasitic douche bags. It's what sells papers and gets them clicks.
