Only info is that Gus has contacted him, like he did last year.
Doesn’t sound to promising does it ?

Hope they’ve got something worked out .. can’t go into 2024 pinning our hopes on our young blokes again, they’re just not mature or seasoned enough for the week to week grind … it’s not fair on them … especially for the critical 7 position ..

As important as a quality 7 is, they can't do shit behind a beaten pack.

We need to sort our pack first or at least, in conjunction with acquiring a No7.

Plan B should be BBO or Rajab followed by fixing our forward pack.

Agree mate .. we’ve always had a feared pack .. it’s sad to see us being dominated in that area ..

Big aggressive powerful pack only needs a good solid 7 to direct it around ..

I guess Canberra are a good example of this. Strong pack and average No7 in Fogarty but put him behind our pack and everyone would call for his head.

We need alpha males, not Tolmans first

If Hunt is as tight with Griffin as everyone says I give him no chance of coming after what went down between him and Gus/Ciraldo at the Riff.

Did you watch the 1st game Hunt played for Saints after Hook was punted ? … didn’t look upset to me, he was best on field and won them the 2 points .. he’s not going anywhere ..

Plan B: extend Reynolds for one more season.

Plan A: get rid of the deadwood forwards which will improve our defence.

Lot of fans on here pinning their hopes on us getting Hunt ..

Are there any reliable sources saying we’re a true chance of getting him, or is it all just our hopes and desperate want for a 7 that’s driving this.

Personally I feel it’s a long shot, they’d be crazy to let him go and run with their inexperienced young half’s … Flanagan will be the new coach and I can see him persuading him to stay, they might even bump his money a bit.

If he did want out, we’d also be competing with other clubs, Raiders will be cashed up with Wighton’s money .. Titans even Bronco’s or Dolphins might throw good money at him ..

So if we don’t land him what’s plan B .. because it’s GroundHog day again next season without a specialist 7 ..

I feel Gus should be going after Trindall, he’s stuck behind Hynes who owns that position for years, he’s not a 6 so he won’t be taking over from Moylan who will prob play on for another 2 years anyway.

Throw some good money at Trindall, guaranteed 1st grade spot and a contract that shows trust, and I believe we’d get him ..

No he’s not elite, but he has a huge boot, good game management skills, and can lead a team around the park .. and with more game time over the next 2 years he just might become elite … plus he’s a tough little dog ..

We’re not going anywhere without an aggressive powerful forward pack or a game managing 7 .. Trindall can be that 7 ..

If you think Trindall’s shit, what’s your plan B …
the Titans have 3 former Aussie schoolboy halves in the club (Sexton, Boyd, Weaver), maybe getting one of these on the cheap (preferably not boyd) as well as trindall could be the go. If nothing else Sexton would provide a guaranteed short kicking game. There's also a decision to be made at Storms in the next 12 months between hughes and pezet, the loser of this would be good for us.

I agree with you mate, it would be huge if we could land him, his experience that he’d pass on would be priceless and I’d be offering a post footy deal for him to stay on as our specialist half’s coach ..

But that’s plan A .. this is about plan B .. we can’t keep crossing the fingers and hoping a young kid can all of a sudden find the talent & maturity we need to lead us around the park .. these kids should be coming off the bench and being brought in gradually when we’re in front ..
Wouldn't buying hunt fuck up Gus' build with juniors thing? Surely a very expensive 33 year old, albeit a good one, doesn't fit his style.

We need hunt so bad to be a top 4 side. Karl Oloapu is definitely not the answer I know the boy is only 18 but has not shown any glimpses of attacking what so ever and can’t really see it in him besides his great defence maybe in 5 years time maybe. Doesn’t suit half or 5/8 Happy for him to prove me wrong for all you guys taking out burto and putting Karl in his position is laughable.
young rajab seems to be better then Karl atm. Without Burton and reed we would be nowhere.
sign hunt asap to teach the young ones

Personally I am reasonably happy with Oloapu's progress, he doesn't make many mistakes, his tackling one on one has always been good in the lower grades and he is holding that standard in NRL games and his teamwork based defence was questionable but he has improved that dramatically. Plainly under coaching staff instructions, week by week he is introducing a little bit more of his skills base in attack, not rushing it, not taking risks, playing within himself, gaining confidence and the confidence of those around him. I expect a change to #7 in the next few games and by the time 2024 roles around he will have up to 20 NRL games and his first full NRL preseason with us.

Really hoping either Rajab or Bbo can become our long term halfback cause In my opinion Oloapu is still a couple years away from being NRL ready and by that time he might be better suited to playing in the forwards anyway.

I was just about to ask what peoples thoughts were on Toby Sexton if Hunt goes to the GC
Sexton very underrated, young inexperienced kid who got shit on when he had no experienced players around him at the Titans. He played just under 3/4 of last season and still forced the most line drop outs out of any halfback. There is a footy player there, just needs to be put in the right system.
