That's all we can really go on atm.
Both Gus and CC have experienced success - RFM, despite showing glimpses of good form has never really been part of a team that has any success

As iv written previously a lot that was done last year was crap
Reynolds signing Brown signing, emphasis on improvement rather than winning, culture, culture , culture throughout the preseason, the resigning of RFM n Topine - all mistakes - and were considered mistakes at the time n not just in hindsight - hindsight tells us they were major mistakes.

BUT despite the fg failures - imho the club is in a better position than 18 months ago.

Would rather the club be under the influence of CC and Gould than RFM and similar at this point

Does rfm own any of the off field stuff as well as his on field performance

Topine was no mistake at all. Look at all the videos when we won games. He was front and centre of the victory songs. He's a local kid. He's still a kid. He loves the club. We loved him back. He's passionate. He would be a lower end style signing. He was 19 when making his NRL debut in 2021. Time is still well in front of him. Whatever happens after 2024 whether he's with us in 2025 he will be playing in a Top 30 or Development in 2025 somewhere.

RFM did remarkably well to return from the 2021 injury. He showed great determination. Issue is returning from injury he was a shadow of 2020 and the years before that. He should have only been given a year. There was no market value for him. We could have kept him on one year deal with Club Option. He wasn't going anywhere. He showed his love for the club.

I am 66 years of age and go to at least 16 gym/outdoor training classes a week... a blend of HIIT; RPM; Cardio Box and Bootcamp ; plus I walk at least 30000 steps a day... every day.

I will only ask for an option to a set task if I know 100% that I am incapable of performing that set task to the utmost. I train and exercise alongside most less than half my age and to my delight I keep up. NEVER ask for the trainer to take it easy on me. Sure I have had some downtime with injury, but some rehab and rest fixes that ; the will is there and the enthusiasm strong so I won't stop.

I do know that at some stage I will have to calm down a bit and tailor things to a more moderate pace but until that day comes I go 100%.
Even with my disability I push myself. I always ask my trainer to keep going and give me heavier weights (within my limits, off course). I enjoy it because I get to challenge myself.

Wow. I must be polar opposite.
I have a desk job so struggle to even hit my 6000 step target, I eat take-away every single day and about 10 times a week, I haven't been to a gym since i was 13 and never had gym membership.

I'm also thinking of slowing down. I've cut back on having beers every day but struggling to give up the fuzzy drinks.

Its a wonder I'm not over 120kgs although as I'm about to turn 46, I've noticed my metabolism slow and I've hit 95kgs...

I love sport, but I find myself puffed out after 1min and gasping for breathe. Fortunately, I don't smoke, don't have asthma and never done drugs.
Never give up hope. Until I turned 60 I was pretty sedentary and overweight. I used to be very active as a kid and into 20's but then marriage and kids put a stop to that. I got to 60 and realized that if I wanted to be a lot older I needed to do something.

Sugar is definitely a big part of today's problems when it comes to weight loss and health. Drink water rather than the fizzy and juice. I still love my coffee though but thanks to daughter have a machine to use at home so I avoid the things that can quite often go with a takeaway.

I started at the bottom and worked my way up and exercise soon became basically a drug in itself. Losing weight and keeping it off was a bonus and the fitness levels rose. Yeah, some days when you don't feel like doing the work happens, but I find that after a day on the job I may be tired at the end of it but I still make myself go to class and I feel so much better afterwards.

This morning was Cardio box at 6-45am for an hour . Plenty sweaty and sapping so I have a real admiration for those who box regularly..it is damn hard work and certain parts of the body cop a real pummeling...always on the move with either cardio run or exercises in between punching drills of straight, uppers and hooks.

It all starts with just ONE step...then the next and the next...put on the earphones, listen to some music...you would be surprised how it then becomes a lot simpler....we all start out a bit out of breath but as levels of fitness rise that goes. I suck at running, dont have the technique but I don't complain about it anymore just put one foot after the other and go at my pace.

Mate I am in awe of you. Never ever in the time that I have known you have I ever heard you complain. You do so well to navigate the steps at Accor and the the walk to the ground.

Life is what you make of it and I feel guilty sometimes when I complain of being tired and sore. I am well and truly able bodied and I should be ever so thankful for that. Age, disability or whatever...nothing should stop you from being the best version of yourself.

Topine was very good all through HM and SGball - genuine leader and effort player at those levels and was given a challenging intro to fg having to play a number of positions in a poor team - he went ok regardless when playing in the forwards and yes RFM has had injuries, my point is that any re signing should have been based on performance in 23 not promise.

If either, particularly Topine, have anything to offer they will be picked up by other clubs - someone like Topine would do well in the Melbourne system - if Bronson Garlick can play fg consistenly there Topine probably could as well n offer more.

Loving the club, leading the team song, being a local are not the best reasons to sign players. They are "feel good, soft culture" - but dont tend to win games imho.

Topine was re-signed by Gould in 2022. He was signed for 2 years. That's very reasonable for a kid who was 20-21 at the time. This year he had to twice come on and play centre. On both occasions we had a specialist 5/8 on the bench and our best centre wearing no.6 and it was Topine thrown to the wolves especially against Campbell Graham.

Topine is a squad player and no doubt signed accordingly. Gould never made a mistake signing him for 2 years.

I have seen some character slandering of Topine and it's not nice.

If Topine isn't re-signed for 2025 he will have no issues finding a club. He turns 23 next year. His football is still in front of him.

I thought he was re signed (extended) this year - playing in the centres in those situations was a poor coaching decision - as i said when playing in the forwards he did ok.

Not slandering him - his on field attitude in HM n Sgball was outstanding - effort n leadership.

Yeah I'm thinking we can't be hanging our hat on believing anything at all on what Buzzard tells the public. He is a proven liar and drama queen who manipulates what players and officials say to him with the answers to his sly questions.

I'm sure there is an issue for sure but I wouldn't be relying as gospel anything that horrid hater says.

This issue will be on-going I guess and Gus and CC have stepped it up with the (apparent) training non-presence requirement atm....even that could be just temporary so they can gauge the players attitudes without RFM around.

One thing it probably does indicate with Gus not denying this is that RFM on the outer and that Gus and CC not taking any crap any longer with indiviuals in the roster come hell or high water.

I just hope their selections and bench etc is a lot more logical and conducive to winning the game in 2024 and not as it seemed in this 2023 season of rewarding good trainers as the main selection criteria.

Do that and supporters will back them.
You make this comment quite often @wendog33 im not sure we had anyone in our list that was going to make a huge difference this year to results. Perham is the exception but I do t think Avo there would have made a difference to results at all. We had huge injury toll, no depth and sone shit players. Putting different shit players in would not have changed much.

And some guys keep on saying the same excuses that there was nothing else that could be done better in 2023. They were all shit players we had and other excuses that a good coach could do nothing about. Then there are others who believe that results could have been better with better selections in key positions, better gameplan, better rotations and better resolve provided by on point coaching.

We'll just have to accept each others points of view I guess.
