Yeah but it was a fair assumption tbh. (until Kikaugate)

Having Thompson, Vaughan, Ava and Patolo in the middle.
RFM being injury prone, Jackson being less effective on an edge and sacking Elliott opened up a pretty clear path to TPJ on an edge.

I'm not arguing with your basis - he is a better middle. I just think based on the personnel that we have (again, before Kikau) and Barrett's need for a strike backrower that it was a fair calculation.

He is finally injurie free, thought he was excellent at the bag end. Him and hetherington on edges look good, add in some xfactor of the bench, pack is looking good

Stimson did go good and looks like he has slimmed up too... BUT would Fkuen love to get Kikau early and throw Hetho on the other edge leaving TPJ, Thommo and Jacko in the middle... That pack would destroy most teams.
