We lost the grand final because Hodkinson and Morris took serious knee injuries into the game (they couldn't run) and Reynolds destroyed his shoulder making his first tackle.

With the half, five eighth and left centre just making up the numbers we were shot ducks.
And our Hooker and LEADER was missing

(in the voice of patty / Selma) ..really
Undeniably. They killed us in the backline, halves and hooker and had marginally worse forwards. It would have been a pretty big upset if we were able to beat their side last season. This year not so much.

So was Issac Luke from Souths. He is devastating from dummy half; something Ennis is not!
Ennis' loss was felt more.. Just ask the guys who play with him how crucial he is to the team.. There lies the answer to how valuable Ennis truly is..

Don't Know about that. James Graham put in a perdormance that made him the best forward on the park. Even with half our backline being injured, with Bupa playing the way he did and (this is the impossible dream) an injury free, fit and down in weight Kasiano playing the Dogs would have won it

And ask souths how crucial luke is to their team... there lies the answer too how valuable Luke is.
Absolutely spot on.

Souths had an international, reserve grade player, with plenty of FG experience, who's actually a hooker to fill that spot. We had a halfback, who'd never played a first grade game in that position.
Ennis' loss was felt more than Luke's, no doubt.

Im not taking anything away from Graham..he's a legend.. Him AND Ennis worked so well as a unit.. I have no doubt they wouldve combined for of a GF try!

He's not as valuable because he is only their hooker, Ennis was not only our hooker but our captain as well .
I think You might be missing the point of what makes a team tick..

Luke is the catalyst of their attack. They very obviously missed him in stages of the GF. And captain is just a letter next to the name. Every team has an assortment of leaders.

Isaac Luke would be one of theirs. And we had guys more than capable of filling the (leadership) role for Ennis.

Whether or not we got the best deal is irrelevant. We are in the position we chose to be in. Our club thought that Lichaa was the better bet. At no time did it say that Ennis is a poor player simply not the player that fit our direction. The loss of Ennis for the GF was no doubt a key factor in our loss but there were several others. One could say that the failure to have a quality backup hooker led to our defeat. In the Dogs history they have nearly always had a quality backup hooker...Souths did and we didn't. That looks like poor planning to me.
