What's the difference, al i want is to record my shows.
I am told not to get TIVO as i am unable to fast forward the advertisements, BUT how can a PVR not let me FF something i have recorded?

I am tyold to go for a Beyondwiz P1, not the freeview version.

What's makes the freeview versions so bad?

Biggest difference is only IQ can record foxtel.

So if you leave your tv on one channel (i.e foxtel channel) and mainly use the foxtel remote and dont change the channel on your tv that oftem get IQ

Tivo is pretty limited here in Australia, but theres something called OzTivo??

If you do change channels on your tv, then a PVR is the way to go

dont have foxtel, and if i spend $1000 on a PVR, there's more you can do with it, HDD Upgrades, Play fioles from External and Flash Drives Etc...
Iq has a Lan port but it's disabled :(

iq 2 = you can record 2 tv programs at once and watch a third - you can get all the hd channels on it , it looks sexy, can record up to 60 hours of hd or 90 hours of sd - you can series link shows you can use i suggest on it - it has fbo - should i keep going?

In Australia, TIVO is just another PVR. A lot of their cool features from the States are not enabled in the Australian version. TIVO and PVR's record whats on television and will use their own EPG's if they have one. I hear 'Ice TV' has the best box in the market when it comes to PVR's.

IQ and IQ2 is intergrated with the Foxtel EPG which has both commerical tv and Foxtel. You can record two or three programs at the same time, program your IQ to record via the internet or selected mobiles. IQ2 also records in HD.

Any good salesmen would first ask you, what do you plan to use it for? how often? and so on...

I've got a PVR, I've played with TIVO... and I've had IQ/IQ2 now for 3-4 years. Hands down IQ kicks the crap out of the competition. It suits my needs and most others. That doesn't mean it will suit yours.

* If you want to keep program and burn them to DVD, a PVR is the best choice.
* If you want to never miss your favourite program and simple one touch recording, IQ is your box.

Don't forget PS3's now have PlayTV which allows you to record onto the PS3's hdd and media centres can record also.

I have decided on a Beyonwiz DP-P2, this can also record Pay TV like Foxtel.
500GB Drive, and Flash Drive ports as well, just need to find it for a decent price
