Honestly, I only just noticed this (thumbs missing) when you mentioned it.

It's possible admins have disabled them, as we were having issues with users posts requiring approval.

As such (looking at the Mod Control Panel), we have lost a few other spam prevention measures here as well..

So it's possible all (or some) add-ons have been removed in order to provide better site stability. I know thumbs was an aftermarket add-on.
