BACK when he was a kid, playing with his mates in the backyard or on the street, Krisnan Inu would attempt to win the muckaround game by doing something freaky, whether it was scoring a try or kicking a field goal. He was like any kid who had belief in his own ability and wanted to show it.

The odds are that not many of those kids are going to go all the way, but Inu has long since beaten them, and last night he was at it again with one of those brilliant plays of his. This time, it was to win the game for Canterbury in golden-point extra time.

The Tigers had seen it all before from him, in last year's finals series, when he scored a late try to end their campaign when he was still playing for the Warriors.

The match-winning field goal last night, with 58 seconds left, was the second attempt by Inu in the extra-time period. He had missed with one in the 85th minute, but it didn't put him off. Nothing does.

''I'm not afraid [of trying to do something],'' Inu said afterwards. ''You don't want to die wondering. I tried to smash the first one, and I got no accuracy with it. The second one, I hit it a lot better, and I thank the boys for helping to put me in a good position for it.''

Inu joined the Bulldogs mid-season after being released from the Warriors, who couldn't find the way to consistently get the best out of him. He is yet to taste defeat at his new club, having played in 11 games on their now 12-match winning streak. But he was adamant that he didn't see himself as a lucky charm, and he was keen to praise his teammates for giving him the opportunity to play well.

''I'm not the only one out there,'' Inu said. ''They do so much, and they don't get talked about enough. We're fortunate, in the backs, that our forwards do so much and we get to play off that.''

Inu is now enjoying the most consistent stretch of his career. That would be largely due to the influence of Des Hasler, who seems to have the key to everything in football these days. But you can be disciplined and still have fun doing what you do out there. Just like when you were a kid.

Fortunately he has stayed consistent his entire bulldog career.... He looks like he is honestly on A mission out there to win every game, which is a pleasure to watch. Hard aggressive runs and tackles. He's a new person. Amazing what a little faith in players can do. As barba said on fox, the coach believes in them and knows they can do it.

Regardless of this years outcome, we are so lucky we have Desmond. If sticky Stuart is earning more than this guy, the club needs to upgrade his contract just cause.

He's rocks or diamonds, thankfully so far it's been pretty much all sparkle for the dogs :grinning:
