KnuckleheadOUR FORWARDS ARE SHIT.....9 is the priority.
What YOU don't think getting a quality 9 is the top priority for next season?Knucklehead
Would like to actually see Jake playing FB before committing, and this year may be the year to do it. Try him out, see how he handles FG.I believe between Allan, Addo-Carr, and/or Averillo, we should have a workable fullback moving forward... we really need a no. 9 and better go-forward before anything else
Tex is a no...both on ability (or lack thereof), and his unwillingness to move out of Newy. He has said he doesn't want to move, even if he's stuck in reggies. It doesn't look like we've got any quality fullback prospects in the development pipeline at the moment so we will either have to develop one of the existing ones we have (DWZ, Allan, Meaney) and if we are being honest none of them look the goods. We will have to go to market.
Our best chance at signing a top fullback is doing what Knights did with Ponga; throw ridiculous money at a young prospect and take a gamble on him fulfilling his potential. Funny enough, that option could be Tex Hoy at Newcastle. He won't be the starting FB anytime soon with KP there.
Fact of the matter is though, with the amount we have already dumped into our backline and how poor our forwards/hooking options are I would say they are a priority at the moment and fullback won't be addresssed for a few years. We will have to make do with who we've got for the next couple of years.
tex hoy is fucking terrible, do you watch any footy??It doesn't look like we've got any quality fullback prospects in the development pipeline at the moment so we will either have to develop one of the existing ones we have (DWZ, Allan, Meaney) and if we are being honest none of them look the goods. Go back and READ the post! What YOU don't think getting a quaility 9 is the top priority for next season?
Relax m8 I wouldn't go for Tex Hoy, just used it as an example of the type of deal we would need to do.tex hoy is fucking terrible, do you watch any footy??
Could quite easily say Laurie for Wests, Kennedy for sharks and Walsh for warriors will all be guns Kennedy has been one of the better fullbacks this year and in a rubbish sideNews has just come out that AJ Brimson has signed a mega 5-year deal worth $3m for the Titans.
imo, our current FB's are just fill ins and in no way are they specialist FB's.
In our current predicament, our number one priority is the number 9, though it doesn't mean we shouldn't have a look at other available FB's when they are available
Going through the current FB's across the NRL, you have;
Manly - T. Turbo (won't be leaving)
Parra - Gutho (won't be leaving)
Storm - Papsmear (won't be leaving)
Raiders - CNK (won't be leaving)
Rorters - Tedesco (won't be leaving)
Souths - Mitchell (won't be leaving)
Panthers - Edwards (Staines waiting)
Newcastle - Ponga (good FB - big Drama queen with contracts)
Cowboys - Holmes (won't be leaving)
Gold Coast - AJ Brimson (won't be leaving)
These FB's are good to great and are more than likely locked up long term at their respective clubs
Lets have a look at the remainder
Broncos - Isaako (winger filling in at FB)
Tigers - Laurie (Still young and fresh playing at a basket case of a club)
St Merge - Dufty (has talent, been playing for few years now and still lacks alot of consistency)
Bulldogs - Too many to mention (for too many years its been a game of Russian roulette)
Sharks - another one of those too many over the last few years
Warriors - RTS (Great FB, though warriors need a new FB as Roger is heading to Union next year)
The clubs with established/talented FB's are all in the top 8 barring the Knights & Cowboys
The remainder of the clubs are in the bottom of the 8.
How important is the FB role? Do we have a crack at a fullback who is available?
imo Hynes would be a worthy risk at the right price. Others believe Hynes would suffer away from the Storm system
imo Dufty doesnt seem to have it in him to go up a couple of gears with consistency! Others believe he is worth the risk
Are there any other FB's available?
Thoughts?
I'm working. I can only jump in quickly to offer some gold in terms of quick short comments. What did you say, 9 is the absolute top priority way more important than fullback?Go back and READ the post!
What the fark did i say about the number 9?
Thats rubbish. His family are in Sydney and he supported the dogs growing up. If Bellamy retires we have a chance.Paps won’t leave Melbourne unless a second team in Brisbane is formed.
I said it before I think I was talking about the wrong player, my bad.Thats rubbish. His family are in Sydney and he supported the dogs growing up. If Bellamy retires we have a chance.
Don't dare make a mistake on TK...just be glad there's no capital punishment!I said it before I think I was talking about the wrong player, my bad.
