Dreams are free mate, BTW there hasent been much to enjoy about football in the last what 6-7 years.Would the Kennel be a better place if you never started another pointless topic like this again?
Thank you mate for suggesting that I should go back to school. This this is why we need to get the kids back to school….. they have too much idle time to come up with irrelevant shit.
Given that Folkes got a team to play well enough to get to a grand final in 98 that had no business being there. Then rebuilt the club when it was known as the old Folkes home to be contenders again. Something most coaches struggle with. And then wins the comp in 04 (Should have had 02 as well). I think he was a great coach. To be honest under the current rules with six against and the like, his game plan would kick arse currently. Play heads up footy, and get the forwards going forward, be the fittest club around. Simple but effective.Depends on the team. Panthers won without a top coach cause there was no ego's, majority came through juniors together and play for one another. Similarly with Storm.
Roosters need a top coach as they put together big name signings. We need a top coach as we've taken the same route.
We won a comp in 04 without a top coach.
Just depends on the situation and the team.
You are giving far too much credit to Steve. He was an OK coach, the team he had on paper should have won >3 comps between 2002 and 2006 at the bare minimum. We only ever made one grand final.Given that Folkes got a team to play well enough to get to a grand final in 98 that had no business being there. I think that's what our focus needs to be on, be fit, play what you see. You have some structure. But fitness will be the key to sustain those six again situations and be able to punch it out of your own end once done. Thank god we have Burton and his big boot. That extra 10-15m he will be kicking at the end of sets will make all the difference in field position.
That's a more on your day thing. He had us as contenders. I can't believe you don't see that. Lovely to be able to win the comp each year, just doesn't always work out like that. 2002 we were a shoe in until the salary cap disaster. 2003 we fell one game short, and and same in 2006. 2005 was just one of those years where injuries bite at the wrong time and the team just didn't get over it. You only have to look how we were hanging around the edge of the eight but then lost the last 6 games in a row that put paid to our chances. You are giving far too much credit to Steve.
