I came into this year not expecting huge things. I was pretty much expecting about a 25% winning ratio. Not quite up to expectations there. More recently with the change in coach I've come to expect we'll at least be competitive. That's why the loss this week hurts.
This week we weren't even close to competitive. Now one of the things I notice about us is that in attack our forwards have no issue getting out close to the wing. When it's time to defend the second rowers prefer not to drift that wide. We saw Melbourne exploit that defensive weakness numerous times today. I've often blamed our backs for poor defence. But they really do need to be trying to at least slide to prevent our backs being outnumbered. As I said they'll drift out to the sideline if there's some easy run metres in it.
