Just the fact that there is so much debate around this tells me we need to cool things and wait.

Remember when we were linked to Mahoney everyone knew that was 100 percent the right decision.

STEVE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THE FUCK HE PLAYED FULLBACK?
all you are doing his copying and pasting news paper clips lol.
he has played fullback in all grades including first grade, hence why CC and Gus want him here. The problem he has is that is also a top5 centre in the game so you play the best 13 players.
surely you can understand that, its not hard. He was a superstar coming through the grades.
im not going to argue all night but here is a article from 21

Crichton wants to be Panthers' fullback

Stephen Crichton has eyes on one day playing more at fullback at NRL level after getting a taste for it while filling in for Dylan Edwards at Penrith.

TYRONE MAY of the Panthers is tackled by Josh McCrone of the Dragons during the NRL match between the Penrith Panthers and the St George Illawarra Dragons at Pepper Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

Stephen Crichton's brief dalliance with Penrith's No.1 jersey has lit the desire for him to be ready to become a long-term success at fullback.
Crichton played a full game at fullback in Thursday night's 46-6 win over Manly, running 166 metres.
The 20-year-old admitted his biggest challenges came in defence and setting Penrith's line.
With a month-long stint there ahead while Dylan Edwards recovers from a broken hand, it's not the first time Crichton has flirted with the role.
He was first used as a fullback off the bench for Penrith early last year for parts of games and also played both that and centre growing up.
The Penrith junior's shift to No.1 ahead of Tyrone May and Charlie Staines paid dividends for the Panthers on Thursday night, allowing Matt Burton to step up at centre.
And while Crichton maintains his own focus is still on centre, he does have aspirations of one day starring at the back.
"One hundred per cent (it's lit that fire)," Crichton said.
"Obviously I'm new to the position and just want to keep getting better and better.
"If that position opens up in the near future I want to be able to take it.

case closed, ive seen it first hand as you know so dont know why you are arguing

If he signs for 2023 I kinda get it but for 2024....

Isn't Joash expected to be developed for debut around then? Bit confusing.

You're article proves literally nothing. He has played centre in the SG ball team since 2017 and continued playing there all throughout the grades. I've been told that and a the record available supports exactly that.

This is from his brother, Christian:

Christian added: "He started off in the halves, that's where he gets his ball skills from. He had a mad growth spurt and got chucked wider."

So he started in the HALVES and was then shifted out wide, no where does he mention that he played FULLBACK. We also know that he didn't break through the grades until 16/17 years of age.

Now this from Knowles:

Knowles is always nervous when young players have a fast entrance to the NRL - "if something comes so easy are they going to take the training side seriously?" - but Crichton has eased his concerns.

"His fitness test results are pretty impressive. It was really pleasing to see he's got a big motor," Knowles said.

"At the start of the year, Ivan would throw him into the team as a fullback, so he's got an engine to play fullback.

"To have a fit centre is pretty handy. Usually centres, if any position in the game, struggle with fitness. There are some teams in the comp where their centres might not be as fit as the coach would like."

So yes, he's a great athlete and that's something we all know and have stated numerous times but this idea that Crichton "played plenty of fullback" is absolutely garbage, it doesn't exist. He trained there for a bit and played a couple of games, cool, plenty of players have but that's doesn't mean he played plenty off fullback. Playing plenty of fullback is literally paying fullback, you know how the likes of Staines and Laurie did ahead of him or how the likes of Manu who you brought up actually did in the lower grades. That's playing fullback.

Again I'm not saying it isn't possible for him to play fullback and potentially play extremely well there, I'm just saying it isn't a sure thing, it's a risk, a gamble....if he does come across and kills it then great I'll 100% put my hand up and say sorry....still doesn't change the fact that he hasn't played plenty of fullback, not unless these Panther folk have some alternate reality down there where he actually played fullback because they're oh so perfect at everything.

I hope this isn't a Hoppa 2.0 fullback experiment. Seen enough in these last few years.
This, Crichton does not excite me at all, always thought he was overrated and just another guy reaping the benefits of playing in a generational Penrith team. We should've learnt our lesson by now with long term over priced contracts for unproven experiments in the spine.

Wait for what though? Where he plays when he starts for us in 24(earlier would be good too but Cunthers don't do early release)or something else?
