The St George Illawarra Dragons have accepted their invitation to participate in the 2015 World Club Series.

The European Super League have confirmed that the Dragons will join the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Brisbane Broncos in the series which will be played in the United Kingdom over three days from February 20-22 next year.

The tournament will culminate with the World Club Challenge to determine the best Rugby League team in the world.

The Dragons have been invited following the success of the Rabbitohs in last weekend’s NRL Grand Final..

We just sending mediocre teams, Draqueens & Groncos, so the ESL feel good about themselves when they smash them?

Thank goodness we're not going. These sort of games end up having big negative effects on a team's off season.

Yeah no thanks. It means nothing and I bet most of these teams will field 2nd and 3rd tier players anyway.

ANOTHER bloody gift for Souths.... This is becomming an absolute joke.

Just give them the World Challenge Cup and move on.

Imagine all the gushing when they are crowned not only the best in the NRL, but in the world, and cap off a dream year for the pride of the NRL.

.....

Be interesting to see how they play with Sam Burgess though.

Agree. Next year there is a lot of footy and this is just an added strain on players who already have competition proper games and Rep games.

Yeah for sure. This will be a big off season anyway with a few players having surgery.
Does anyone know if Brett Morris had surgery recently? He was in a sling in a private box at the grand final hanging out with moylan, brooks, gallen, gidley, woods & a few hangers on

You would have to think if st. George is going that us, manly, the storm and the Roosters all turned it down. Absolutely crazy the NRL has let this happen. This world club series is a flop.

Yes he has had surgery. Good thing for us though is that the St George commitments ended a month before ours.

How is it a gift?

They won the premiership. They've earned the right to play the Super League champion. Just as previous premiers have.

Cheers mate. I guess it was for the shoulder he did scoring that try in origin. He'll be sweet by round 1 & should be doing weights by New years

They are playing average Super League sides, as well as a few duds from the NRL.

Souths wanted the Dragons there because there will be no charity shield next year.

No charity shield because Souths have had enough charity in the last 14 days to last a lifetime!

they were automatically gifted this spot before winning the GF, so they ended up earning it but still its another setup for souths

ok so i think i get how it works, brisbane and stgeorge play single exhibition games against superleague opponents and the world club challenge is still a one off game between champions?

if so my heart rate has returned to a normal situation, if they are including in a tournament to decide the world club challenge then somebody needs to be fired
