I got some virus and its causing my computer everytime i do a google search and click on any of the results to default to some random spyware website - and there is no way around it.

Every 5 or 10 minutes i get a pop up window as well.

I can't seem to get rid of it - can anyone recommend a program or what I can do to clean out my PC?

Download: Spybot - Search & Destroy.

It's helped me in the past.

The thing is, you obviously can't download these programs because your page keeps re-directing. Download the program at work or at a mates and install it on your own computer.

Linux does not get viruses and costs nothing. People say it takes a while to get used to, but how much time do you spend now updating antivirus, spyware etc? How many times has your computer been to the shop or had to be reformatted? Why not try a live cd while your pc isn't working? Just don't hit install and you can see what its all about for yourself.

With the price of hard drives these days why switch? Just have 2 and dual boot. Windows for games and linux for surfing the net, you get the best of both worlds.

This is a good combo

AVG Anti-virus Free
Spybot
Malwarebytes anti-malware
Windows Firewall

All free, all effective. If you keep them updated and do regular scans, you shouldnt have an issue
