Should West Indies test status be removed?

This team is an embarrassment to test cricket and should have their status downgraded to play Prime Ministers XI until they get their shit together . This is pretty much a park cricket team masquadering as a test playing country.

I think part of the problem is t20 cricket. A lot of talented players are chasing the riches of twenty twenty cricket. For Australia it is ok because we have a large talent pool to choose from. But somewhere like West Indies when you lose guys like Gayle and Russell it becomes very difficult to replace them meaning they often end up fielding a second rate team. T20 has destroyed the pride of representing your country. Now the only pride is in how much money you can make and it is sad because it has taken the soul out of cricket!!!

Exactly this, as good as t20 is, it's killing test cricket! Too much money available! I don't blame the players for taking it either.

Cricket in the Caribbean has been on the decline for 20 years now , before the advent of t20.
NBA and Soccer which are popular sports there now is one of the reasons.
The Windies made cricket cool in the 80's but today's side is a a joke. Fans who are paying to watch them are getting dudded.

Too much is expected from them. They are not a test side. Yes in the 80s the stars aligned for a once in a lifetime team. This was supported by a strong local comp that needs to be addressed.

Its not just NBA, soccer. Its baseball and NFL on a big scale. While the West Indian nations at one time aligned themselves to British culture, increasingly they are being aligned to American culture - NBA, baseball and NFL if they have any sporting ability. Cricket is simply a poor mans game compared to these American professional sports. West Indies are gone for good. Never again would talented athletes the ilk of a young Richards, Greenwich, Fredericks, Holding, Roberts etc play cricket when the American scouts are identifying them as 12 year old protiges of an American professional sport. Come to think of it, Im heartily sick of watching the Australian cricket team as well. They are devoid of personality.
