how do you figure, if they can break it next year when des isn't coaching or this year if they boot des whats the point of delaying it and making it more likely des will have more players to follow?
im with dogie on this one, but it would make sense either way!

hhhmmm yeah i guess it all depends how the players are feeling about this all right now

do they feel more loyalty toward the club or the coach?

are they likely to make a snap decision or do they want time to think it through?

glad this hasnt happened to us, imagine winning a GF only for a club to be on the brink of falling apart days later... some even say that this will lead to the downfall of Manly financially, similar to the days when they were forced to merge with Nth Sydney

wow. its like pulling out the most importantly placed card in the highest stack of house of cards.

it may have looked impressive, but not very sturdy after-all...

supposedly manly board are meeting today and rumor has it it's Gunna b 5-2 in Favour of getting rid of DES. if we were in there position id want the coach gone. DES nex year will hav one eye on us and organizing our squad. please let him go manly!!

It’s kind of funny that the kind of comments some have made about the pitfalls of JD being terminated regardless of result now apply to manly.

When do you sack a coach that has just won the premiership? We are about to find that out...

It would be a little unfair to Dymock but I would love to have Hasler over here from next year. It takes most new coaches a year to acclimatize and the sooner he gets here the better. By 2013 our rookie forwards would have had another season under their belt, James Graham's 3rd degree sunburn would have healed and Greg Eastwood might have finally gotten under the 200kg mark. If that was our second seasons under Haslerm el Magic, with potentially a Kieran Foran or a James Maloney in the squad, we might just be a premiership force.

Hasler to come across for 2012 then it wouldnt supprise me at all for Kieran Foran to be the next big announcment at some stage. The dogs arent finished yet, that had a big plan up their sleeve with all the misdirection they have leaked out regarding coaches etc and this is justthe start of it all. nice, very nice.

Funnily enough its actually fairer to JD if Hasler came before next season starts. If we did well under JD next year, hes going to feel hard done by being demoted after it, because he got results. If we did badly in 2012 under JD it would hurt JDs future aspirations as a coach anywhere including here. So JD coaching next year is lose-lose for JD whether we go well or bad.

Which rookie coach in their right mind would be offended/ upset if:

a) They had a chance to coach a First Grade Team for a whole year.
b) Possibily improve their strike rate throughout the year and possibily make the GF.
c) They then have the opportunity to work under arguably the best coach going around, Des Hasler.

Jimmy's resume speaks for itself, but the next 24+ months will make him a much better candidate when it comes time to filling in the big shoes. Will make his coaching resume look so much better. I think that Todd was straightforward with Jim throughout all negotiations, and what was happening.
