Not a good season by any stretch but seriously some people on here. Can he control Okonbor dropping the ball with the line wide open. And special people like Katoa coming up with dumb play every two minutes or a player like Hoopa who kills at least 5 attacking chances a game.

Not to mention the injury toll we have had all year and the treatment from referees and the rule changes designed to suit better rosters. This season has been shocking but to blame Barret with the cattle and other circumstances around it is just stupid. Give the bloke a chance.

All these people.. I just wanna know what’s the point of coach’s if it’s all about the rosters?? Should all sporting teams just do captain coach?
Personally I think coach plays a massive role but a lot of people blame the cattle. I think we’re under achieving. We’ll see how Meaney fairs in Melbourne, if he improves maybe coach’s are important??
Ps-Barrett recruited half these duds anyway
Just fucken lol. He’s soooo outta depth!

Coaches are important but they need a good roster to be successful. Name a coach in the modern game who won the comp with a mediocre roster. If meaney is successful in Melbourne it's cause he is playing a role in a team with Munster, Hughes, Papz, Cheese and Harry - with some power forwards like Nelson. IMO, coaches are a small difference between winning and losing. This makes all the difference in the finals but during the year, the teams with the best rosters are at the top.

FFS we are just a shit team at the moment. Knee-jerk reactions won’t help us right now, just wait for next year. If Barrett fails next year revive the thread.

I think Gould will give him the opening 5 rounds. If we look off the pace I think Gould will pull the trigger.
Gus will have a pretty good idea 3 weeks into November, and will judge whether these players are putting in for Barrett and from then determine whether he can turn the loser attitude ingrained into their psyche.

What happens from there, who knows.

What gets me is we have played some good entertaining footy at times and scored some greats tries.
Barrett had nothing to lose this year so why not tell the guys to go out and throw it around....it was mentioned our completion rate was over 90% at one stage. Big Fucken deal that's cause we don't do anything in attack .

Exactly right.

The thing that stood out for me yesterday was that 2 fringe players from Canberra were our 2 best players. These 2 blokes can’t make a mid table side, haven’t played much lately and were better than our other forwards.

I think that Baz has had an ordinary coaching year but our squad is so poor. Even blokes like Elliott and Hoppa who are experienced have been diabolical. That’s not the coaches fault. If you are an experienced player you should perform no matter who the coach is

Barrett has not earned the right to coach the incoming stars. To earn that right, it was one simple task. There is enough talent in the squad to finish 15th and not 16th. It didn't even need exemplary coaching... just competent coaching.

Barrett's coaching has been grossly incompetent this year. People giving him a break don't know what they are talking about. All coaches have setbacks, injuries, and challenges.

People cutting him slack because he's in his first year are denial about the years he was a first grade coach at Manly.

There is *zero* excuse for finishing last... there is zero excuse for not beating even one of the Broncos, Tigers, Cowboys, Warriors...

He must be sacked... people act like belligerence is *never* called for. NO. The club sacks Barrett as a defiant statement that it doesn't care about the optics. Gross incompetence is not accepted.

The platers recruited came here knowing Trent was coach so obviously want to be coached by him.

I'm hoping Tbaz shows us what he can do next year, but I'm not overly confident after watching the 2021 shit show. To quote somebody on the internet "leaders take responsibility for problems, they don't make excuses" unfortunately for us, Tbaz has plenty of excuses.

Oh yes there will be contracts broken left right and centre if the players find out that the illustrious Trent Barrett won’t be their coach, who is currently the worst in the game both statistically and to the trained eye.

Don’t kid yourself mate, they’re coming here primarily for the $$ and opportunity.

No one expected to win the comp with the players we have.
We did expect some players to improve with good coaching and not regress.
We did expect to compete at the lower end and at least avoid coming last with a near record breaking negative for and against.

It's not about taking these ordinary players and winning the comp mate, it's purely about a coach taking or in Barrett's case not taking the players and improving them even slightly and being better than last.

Players make coaches not the other way around.
Fact is Burton one of the best young talents in the game is coming next year. He was coached at Penrith by Trent. So he is obvioiusly happy to be coached by Trent next year.

He's coming because at the time of his contract signing he was in reserves or not getting a run in the position he wants and was looking like he would never get a run there unless injuries to incumbents.
