afl crowds smash rugby league, afl memberships smash rugby league
but does rugby league have the same support in syd/qld as afl does in wa/sa/vic?
why is it that rugby league gets shocking crowds in sydney? its quite a disgrace that the rugby league heartland city doesnt get behind its teams, qld should be the rugby league heartland simply because they support nrl more then sydney does
and why is it that the brisbane lions have about 20 000 odd members and brisbane broncos only have about 10 000 but rugby league is brisbanes number 1 sport?

no doubt AFL is more popular overall, the crowd figures could be explained in that the AFL is much better to watch at the actual stadium, and it can be argued that league is better from tv

Hasn't this topic been argued to death yet?

Different sports, different cultures ... no point comparing the crowd or membership sizes.

Rugby league today is a second rate sport controlled by money and greed. The quality of the product is second rate, the people who run the game are second rate muppets only concerned with lining their own pockets and players are over rated beyond belief.

On the radio this morning they were saying the Cowboys game last night was boring 'cause it only had a 12-10 scoreline. That alone says alot about the support for the game today.

Well I prefer watch games at home tbh, its just so much easier to see all the plays unfold and all, it's hard to see at the stadium the plays the make in detail and all those little things, afl is the opposite.

QLD crowds have been supurb in recent years. By far the best in the NRL. But on the other hand Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake have sold more records in their careers than the likes of David Bowie, Radiohead and The Smiths. But we all know Bowie, radiohead and The Smiths provide a far better product. :grinning:

Record crowds don't make the product better than years gone by.

100% truth. I can elaborate but I can't be bothered writing an essay. Spot on.

That's because there's nothing else to do in Melb, Adelaide and Perth...
