Let’s hope Napa doesn’t play like he’s sponsored by McDonalds Punchbowl

It’s both really. When the hooker doesn’t know who to pass to, he’ll hesitate, leading to slow service, which seemed to be the case for the last few years.

When the hooker takes too long to pass, it’ll lead to what we see with Katoa, which is playmakers having no space, even though it’s reaching the right person.
Agree. The slow ones also tend to have more loop in their pass and the 1st receiver rarely gets it hard on the chest or just out in front, which destroys the whole move. They tend to swing their arms rather than flick their wrists. Dummy halves with genuine options (kick/pass/run) also make time for themselves by keeping defences in 2 minds.
Both.
Its a pass selection thing as it's also a single motion pick up off the ground and hit the moving target accurately on their chest.
Thanks guys. So with JMK how is his actual speed of the pass itself/alone? IS that considered slow?

Forget the decisions, keeping defence in 2 minds and pickup, just the pass alone.

I think everyone is getting carried away with Deitz. He is 25 hasn't played first grade and been at 3 clubs. He looked good in the trail no doubt. But he's not better than JMK in my opinion.
Perhaps you are right.
After Friday night things should be clearer one way or the other.
The positive from this is that we haven't had to sign him as part of the 30 to get a real look at him in a truly competitive game.
Even if he is a bust he will have been able to show his wares in hopefully 2 or 3 games to get a reasonable sample size

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will field a vastly different side to the one that finished last season when they kick off their campaign against the Knights in Newcastle on Friday night at 6:00PM AEDT.

A number of new recruits will make their NRL debuts for the Bulldogs with Corey Allan, Nick Cotric, Kyle Flanagan, Jack Hetherington and Corey Waddell all pulling on the blue and white for the first time

In addition, 26 year-old Train and Trial hooker Brad Deitz has been named on the bench after being given an injury exemption by the NRL due to Jeremy Marshall-King being unavailable because of a foot sprain sustained while playing for the Maori team in the All Stars match. Deitz is not currently in the Bulldogs Top 30 squad.

Dylan Napa has recovered from a knee injury and will take his place on the bench, while Luke Thompson will serve the first match of his four game suspension.
