SYDNEY's biggest crowd of the season is set to be smashed at the famous Sydney Cricket Ground this Sunday afternoon.
A crowd of about 40,000 is expected to watch old rivals the Roosters and Dragons clash in what shapes as one of the season's finest matches.
The SCG holds 46,000 - with a sell-out still possible with a sunny afternoon and strong "walk-up" crowd.
The largest crowd this season in Sydney was 36,212 in round seven, when these two teams played at the neighbouring SFS. The only problem for SCG officials is the City to Surf - which will be run on Sunday morning and see some road closures through the Eastern Suburbs in place until 2pm.
But Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust chief executive Jamie Barkley was still looking forward to a massive crowd this Sunday at 3pm.

"When the stars align and two great Sydney teams go head-to-head, we are looking at a potential crowd of 40,000," Barkley told The Daily Telegraph.
"The real test for the size of the crowd will be whether the Roosters fans can match the Dragons fans. St George Illawarra fans have a great record of attending matches at the SCG and the SFS.
"There is wonderful history between the two clubs, particularly going back to the 1975 grand final [famously won 38-0 by Easts].
"The match is being played on a Sunday afternoon at the traditional home of rugby league, the SCG. It will be match where a dad takes his kids and dads will take their dads.
"It will one of the games of the season and not to be missed. I reckon we will be watching the potential premiers."
Easts legends will be at the match after attending the club's Hall of Fame announcement on Thursday night.
