Zane Tetevano has had his contract terminated by the Newcastle Knights due to disciplinary reasons, effective immediately.
Tetevano was fined $440 and convicted in Belmont Local Court on Wednesday morning for smashing a taxi windscreen.
The court heard Tetevano lost his temper after an argument with his then partner.
Court documents show the Merewether 23-year-old punched the glass panel on April 28.
He has since apologised to the driver and paid the $500 damage bill.
‘‘The Knights will however provide the appropriate duty of care for Tetevano as he transitions out of the club,’’ the Knights said in a statement.
‘‘The NRL Integrity Unit is aware of the matter. The club wishes Tetevano all the best for the future.’’

Source.

Tbh he managed to smash up a taxi instead of his gf, probably too clean for the Roosters. Still, maybe Uncle Nick will take him under his wing.

Seems like after their recent issues beginning with drugs and ending with Russell Packer, the Knights might be trying on a no ****heads policy...

Had he taken a dump in the cab instead of damaging it the rorting roosters would have signed him up 100%.

No sexual crime took place - rules one out.
No bashing of partner occurred - rules another side out.
No peptides were taken - rules another club out.

...............

So if he has his contract terminated for this, why wasn't Pearce terminated?

...............

The NRL need to stop rooting around, and take the power out of the hands of the clubs.

Do a crime and have your contract suspended or terminated. Zero Tolerance.

The game deserves better than these meatheads, who only undo the good work of others in the community.

Wow that's a bit excessive for Newcastle considering the types of players they have at the club.

At the beginning of the season they were going to stand by Packer even though he was jailed, now they sack a player for this. They're just trying to avoid media scrutiny.

I think that is the problem, they aren't rooting around enough so they are frustrated old ****ers which is getting in the way correct decisions lol...
