BREAKING: NRL players in dramatic media boycott as CBA standoff explodes
THE RLPA has sensationally called an NRL player boycott on all pre-game, post-game and halftime interviews during NRL matches as the collective bargaining agreement with head office has exploded.
The RLPA will be holding a press conference at 2.45pm to announce the latest course of action over the protracted CBA negotiations with the NRL and Australian Rugby League Commission.
From Thursday July 6 all NRL players have been instructed to refuse to take part in all TV, radio, print and digital interviews.
Players have determined that the action to take is that all players will boycott the media from the first NRL, NRLW or State of Origin match of every week to the last.
Dressing room access will also be cut off to Fox League and Channel Nine – the NRL’s multi-million dollar broadcast rights partners.
The ban will be in force from the beginning of every round until the round of football is concluded with players only allowed to partake in interviews on Monday and Tuesday each week with the NRL-club based websites.
Players will also still be allowed to maintain existing relationships with media organisations of Monday and Tuesday each week.
