Refund the Bulldogs $150K NOW NRL!!!!!!!!!!

We are still yet to receive a refund for bringing the game into disrepute in 2004. This is dispite the whole Coffs harbour incident being a total farce and nothing but a media explosion with some of the worst and disgraceful media reporting of all time!!

The Broncos have brought the game into disrepute in 2008. 3 to 4 players on sexual assault investigation, TV footage of the broncos captain tackling a business owner in the street and reports of other bad player behaviour.

The Broncos are owned by News Limited. News Limited owns 50% of the NRL. Therefore we all know that they are not going to get a fine of $150K like we did. This is a disgraceful double standard on behalf of the NRL.

Mr Gallop, you are not going to fine the Broncos $150K, therefore I want my club to be refunded the $150K we were fined NOW!!!

I totally agree with you , we have been screwed for so many account’s of supposed miss conduct for years while other more NRL appreciated clubs walk free. Four f*#ked up Broncos will walk free, if the 4 Broncos see the finals through , it will be all forgotten.

When you are in Rome, you cannot beat Rome. No matter how right you are.

Even if the Broncos were fined, it's like taking money from your right pocket and pitting it into your left!!!

Bulldogs hit with $500,000 fine

National Rugby League bosses have hit the Bulldogs club with fines totalling $500,000 for its conduct during the recent investigation of the Coffs Harbour sexual assault allegations.

The club will have to pay $150,000 up front, with a further $350,000 penalty suspended on the provision that the club and its players face no serious off-field misconduct issues between now and the end of the 2006 season.

The NRL said it was concerned by the club not enforcing a behavioural code in Coffs Harbour; the behaviour of players at training; statements in the media by players; and the players' casual dress for police interviews.

A statement from the NRL said the club would also have to make a "stated commitment towards genuine change" at its Belmore headquarters.

The NRL board met on Wednesday afternoon after New South Wales police said they did not have enough evidence to lay charges against a number of players over an alleged sexual assault in Coffs Harbour in February.

But after the meeting the NRL stressed that the penalties were "in no way" related to the allegations of sexual assault.

The statement went on to say that the NRL "totally accepts the police finding that no charges are warranted against Bulldogs players."

NRL chief executive David Gallop said the board took strong action even though no charges were laid by police.

"The game was in a period where the spotlight was firmly on the game, and this club, and we don't feel that they've behaved in a way which protected the game's image," he said.

"I have sympathy for the players, their families, officials, former officials and indeed everyone who has been involved in something as traumatic as a sexual assault allegation.

"Still, the behaviour of some club representatives outside of the central allegation remains disturbing and demands sanction."

The cash from the fine will be invested into research into attitudes to women in rugby league, and the provision of education awareness courses.

Before the decision Bulldogs chief executive Malcolm Noad had called on the NRL to take the club's loss of fans and sponsorship into account when deciding on any possible fine.

The Bulldogs board will meet later tonight to discuss the NRL fine, and to decide whether to penalise players for breaching the club's code of conduct during the preseason trip to Coffs Harbour.

But Mr Noad said no player was likely to be sacked

Too right its less about what you did and more about who caught you. Once you get that "bad boy" image you become the medias favored play thing. It becomes a vicious cycle, look at whats happening to the broncs.
