Should the NRL appoint an ex coach as the head of referees? Someone who lives and breathes footy and understands the game and how a game should flow so we dont get the disgraceful decisions like last night. Appointing a referee to oversee them dosent improve anything, they just get worse, they dont understand the rules and what the players are trying to get away with on the field, they dont seem to grasp what is and inst a penalty, they are too black and white....

Or what their back ground is
If there is a bunker or not
1 ref or 2 refs

What the obstruction rule is or isn’t

Mistakes will be made.

Some mistakes may be inicent mistakes and forgivable some will no doubt be agenda driven as we all speculate is the case with Sutton.

But at the end of the day, it’s always going to happen, right?

We never had so many incidents and uproars with referees before betting sponsorship became firmly involved and engrained into the game.

Back before video refs we accepted the odd mistake, but they were never as many as currently.
Back before two refs we accepted the odd mistake, but there were never as many as currently.

The rules of the game have only changed in order to allow more flexibility to shape the result of a game through the officials. Nothing more, nothing less.
