Your right there's always a reason, but doesn't mean that reason is right or even legal.... that's the difference

No one gets sacked for “no reason”
the code of conduct policy is set up with hundreds of sections that all employees need to abide by.

It's meant to protect staff from unfair practises but it's very handy tool to get rid of someone too.

Like one of the HR ladies told me once, letting good people go, doesn’t make good business sense.

Unlike Gerrard Sutton and a few others who I believe are genuinely corrupt.

On the unfair dismissal side of things. Sounds like he does have a case.

Wasn't under the impression employees where entitled to a heads up before being sacked...
He would have signed a contract and his time was up.
