Yeah he was off contract and leaving anyway.
The first thing I thought of was Lachlan Lewis and the speaker weirdness - get yourself sacked 6 weeks before your contract ends - all you’re doing is surrendering some income and in Proctor’s case has probably just made it harder for himself to get signed elsewhere. Not sure about Melbourne unless they’re desperate - he’s 33. England seems the only place if anywhere to continue his playing career.
