BULLDOGS BEGIN NEW ERA
13th Oct 2008 @ 3:27pm
The Bulldogs enter a new era today with Kevin Moore officially beginning duties as head coach.
Moore’s transition into the head-coaching role heralds perhaps the biggest shake-up in the Club’s history with significant changes to the playing, coaching and administration staff.
Prompted by a need to improve results on the field and a strong desire to restore the Club’s reputation as a ‘Family Club’, Chief Executive Mr Todd Greenberg expects the changes to provide the foundation for a secure and successful future.
“An honest appraisal of the situation in regards to on-field performances and the general perception of the Club clearly showed that change was our only option,” Mr Greenberg said.
“The recruitment of so many highly qualified and respected personnel in key areas is central to our mission of success both on and off the field.
“The appointment of staff into the newly created positions of Consumer Products Manager, Community Relations Co-ordinator and CRM Co-ordinator highlights the inroads we’re looking to make in those particular areas, specifically around membership.
“It is an incredibly exciting period for the Club as we work hard to honour the traditions and values of the past while delivering a clear plan for the future direction of the Bulldogs.”
With a brand new team on and off the field coach Kevin Moore expects the Club will be invigorated by the challenge of fresh ideas.
“As far as the players are concerned building camaraderie is our first major focus - we have three distinct groups to bring together: an established group of players who have been here for some time, new recruits and then we have a number of young kids that I expect will become regular first graders before too long,” Moore said.
“With so many new faces in key positions we will have a distinctively different style of play to recent years.
“The Bulldogs history of success and the strong sense of tradition is really important to me and I’ll be regularly reminding players of this and outlining the role I expect them to play in maintaining the high standards this club is renowned for.”
The Bulldogs full-time training squad will return to training on November 3. Players involved in Finals Series and World Cup will return at later dates to be determined by the coach.
