UPDATE: BEN Barba trained with the Bulldogs today ahead of a highly anticipated return to the NRL on Good Friday against the Rabbitohs.

The superstar fullback returned to training at Belmore for the first time in three weeks.

Barba spent the morning with teammates before leaving the ground about 1pm AEDT.

He has already trained privately under head conditioner Tony Grimaldi over the past few days.

"They've put him through a couple of hard sessions to see where his fitness is," his manager Gavin Orr said.

"Tony Grimaldi came back to me and said he was very impressed about where Ben was at.

"He was surprised by how fit he was, especially while he hasn't had the facilities to train."

Canterbury's Dally M champion will make his NRL comeback in a colossal Good Friday showdown with the Rabbitohs in round four at ANZ Stadium.

Bulldogs insiders have confirmed supercoach Des Hasler will unleash his pocket rocket in a blockbuster that will attract 50,000 fans.

With the Royal Easter Show next door, officials are tipping a finals-type atmosphere at the Homebush venue to see the return of the game's No. 1 pin-up player.

"Ben will drag in an extra 10,000 on his own," said one Bulldogs official, already counting the cash as it is Canterbury's home game.

With Turner out gone and Barbas fitness levels still up there it's a big possibility. Bring him in now.

I don't think it is up to the club if he plays or not. TG said it is in the hands of the independant medical staff who will probably be against him playing this week.

Hope he does though, Melbourne are looking strong.

I would play him. Despite storm being on fire, it's a much more low key game down there. Way more pressure up here in front of 50k

He'll play thurs night. By saying rd4 is his comeback game, no one expects him to play thurs night. No pressure, no media circus. I reckon he'll be a late inclusion

Specialists revealed last week that playing football would further help Barba's rehabilitation. I would say that the club & Ben have been given the green light wouldn't you?

Trust the media to be all over Belmore once again as soon as he comes back

Isnt that part of their job?
Yeah he means he trusts them to be there because it is apart of their job. He is showing his support for the media and how they are always doing their job with EO in mind.

Here's a fun fact, Barba hasn't trained in over 2 weeks and he was the last one standing at today's beep test :grinning:
