Parramatta have confirmed the signings of North Queensland prop Carl Webb and former Canterbury and Cronulla backrower Reni Maitua for the 2011 NRL season.

The pair have both agreed to two-year deals with the Eels, with Webb set to fill the gap left by retiring skipper Nathan Cayless.

Maitua returns to the NRL following his two-year ban for a doping offence, but he will be unable to play until almost midway through the season with his ban to ends at midnight on May 19 2011.

Maitua and Carl Webb at Parra, they will probably take over the town on a saturday night.
Not bad buys for the Eels.

Reni .... if humble, focused, alcohol free and fully fit ... is worth $80K a year or so.

I predict Reni will do a Willie Mason and play his bets game against us ONLY !

Maitua signs with Parra for 2 years

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels have bolstered their depth in the forwards with the double signing of enforcers Carl Webb and Reni Maitua.

Both Webb and Maitua have signed for two years with the Eels, making a formidable forward pack in 2011 with Fuifui Moimoi, Tim Mannah, Nathan Hindmarsh and Justin Poore, while Shane Shackleton will be back from injury.

Webb will be a replacement up front to fill a gap in the club's front row stocks with Nathan Cayless retiring on Saturday night, while Maitua will add some spark to the back row.

Maitua is past it. Webb is good for 10 min stints. Very poor signings. Time will tell.

Shackletons return will be a welcome relief for them though.

watch simmmo call this the club's biggest mistake of their history and then watch him disappear if Maitua flunks but boast about how he was "right" if Maitua plays decently...

I mean a broken clock is right twice a day, not to mention Maitua will either flunk or not flunk at it so simmmo has a 50% chance of getting it right LOL

Oh no no no no!

Here I was thinking I was willing to forgive Maitua and happy for him to return to the Dogs.

Then he signs up with the Eels! I have no choice but to hate him now lol

I know. It's just I hate the Eels and everything associated with them.

Wish he had chosen another club.

I'm not gonna be cheering him on I'm sorry lol
