Im tipping the Bulldogs to win 10 to 11 matches this season. I give them little hope of making the 8 and if injuries set in, a bottom 3 finish is inevitable. I just think their spine is weak and im still of the opinion that Burton is not a no 6. Imagine him and Crichton as your centre pairing with a decent five eighth ? Scary.
I actually think as follows:
1. It is a triumph to turn the whole roster over in 2 years including bringing in players in that same period and getting rid of them in the same year.
2. It is great to have a top 4 front row
3 it is worth celebrating to also have a top 4 halves combo.
4. Unbelievable smart to publicly announce there are only 7 of the current squad that are signed for 2026.
This season and next season will go down I truly believe as the best in Bulldogs history

Good assesment.
With our defence seemingly improving and looking at last seasons close losses;
Round 4: Warriors 16-14,
Round 10: Canberra 34-30
Round 14: Roosters 25-24
Round 27: Titans 34-30.
Better defence and attitude, we win a couple of those games and hit sweet spot for 10-11 wins. Tbh I think that would be a really good season for us given how things have been.

Blake Taffe is better than people give him credi for. yes he has an off night woth contesting the bombs bit he is usually quite reliable at the back and I think his carries from the back are good. crighton needs to be in the centres. not sold on Hutch at halfback and everyone can see that sexton offers more spark in the halves but ciraldo seems like he has made up his mind to start him in rnd 1.
From all reports Taaffe has been killing it at training but it’s 2 trial games now that he has been pretty poor. I just think we need a more capable player at fullback if we are to go close to challenging for the top 8

That’s my point. If they aren’t performing in the matches then drop them. Taaffe has had two chances now. He’s got to go. I was never a fan of the signing to start off with and he has just proven he’s a backup player at best

Our backline is a hell of a lot better too. I'd go so far as to say conservatively that we're going to be 6 points better most games offensively. So I'd possibly think any game with a 12 point difference could be a win with this roster if we can concede a try or two less per game.

I don't really expect to be in top 8 contention by the end of the season. But if things go right we might just be able to pull it off.

Heard plenty saying he was good in trial 1. Had butterfingers in trial 2. I'm willing to wait and see. Thing is we have a couple of decent options for almost every position right now. If Taaffe impressed the coaching staff our opinion as outsiders is inconsequential really. It's up to his competition to out play him if he's picked for round 1.

There's been plenty of fringe NRL players that just needed to step into a different system to establish themselves. I hope Taaffe proves to be an incredible pick up. But only time will tell. If he's not performing there are others who can step in.

Positive is the reserve grade standard players got exposed, so we are another step closer to identifying a team full of first grade players.

In trial 1 he wasn’t as bad but he took the wrong option several times. We created a few overlaps and the last pass of Taaffe would either miss the mark or go to the wrong player. You’d think he would have mastered this play by now considering how often souths played out the back and created overlaps
