Question that comes up every so often, and even moreso after Martin's strange 4 second NSW Cup game today.

Both statements are quite similar for the finals series.

To be eligible for the Intrust Super Premiership NSW final series a player must meet the following criteria:
  • Played the majority of/equal number of matches in the Intrust Super Premiership NSW prior to the final series commencing, or;

  • Participated in a minimum of 8 matches in the Intrust Super Premiership NSW prior to the final series commencing, or;

  • The player’s NRL team is still competing in the NRL competition (if the higher grade is eliminated on the same weekend prior the Intrust Super Premiership NSW match).
    E.G If the NRL team is eliminated on Friday or Saturday and the Intrust Super Premiership NSW match is on the Sunday, players who do not qualify under any other clause will be permitted to play on that Sunday only.

  • The player has qualified in a lower level or qualified in NYC, or;

  • The player has failed to gain selection in the NRL final series (these players will be required to have played in 2 lower level competition final matches to be eligible to continue playing in that final series) therefore eliminating any of the previous eligibility criteria.

  • If a player has participated in an equal number of matches in a higher level or lower level competition at the conclusion of the regular season, the player will then qualify for the lower level final series and therefore be eligible to play in the higher level final series.

Bulldogs Make Martin ISP Finals Eligible

Ryan Selvage Sun 19 Aug 2018, 12:32 PM
Intrust Super Premiership turn NRL-regular Rhyse Martin caught all by surprise when taking to the field in the Bulldogs' Round 23 clash with the North Sydney Bears.

Having starred in the NRL since making his debut in Round 9, Martin had featured in just one ISP match since that point – ironically, also against the Bears, in Round 14.

Under NSWRL rulings, players must feature in at least eight Intrust Super Premiership NSW matches to be eligible for finals selection.

Playing 23 games for the Bulldogs in the ISP in 2017, Martin had featured on just seven occasions for the reserves this season – making him ineligible to turn out for the Bulldogs in the ISP finals if he was not to figure in the competition again before the regular season's end.

While the Bulldogs are out of finals contention in the NRL, the side is well in the hunt for a top four finish in the ISP, and Martin's services will be invaluable come the play offs.

Rules are rules.

Nek minute NRL changes the ruling due to the “Bulldogs caught bending the rules” or something stupid that will sell papers. *yawn*

Can see us really winning it this year. Our tough NRL season has given us a massive advantage in the ISP.

Gonna be weird seeing the likes of Lewis and Martin running around in Reserve Grade. They've both proven their first graders.

Okay I've worked out the numbers... and have come up with this.

Blue = Injured and unlikely to return this season.
Orange = Does not / can not qualify for NSW Cup finals.

@belmore_utd ask and ye shall receive :grinning:

Thus we could end up hitting the finals with this side:

Gotta feel for Cleeland / Brown... one is bound to have contributed to the success only to be shafted in the finals LOL...

I reckon Cleeland gets dropped for Frawls and Lewis (or maybe Lewis and Cleeland play in the halves).
