Not sure what others think about this, but I honestly believe that the NRL need to stop in season contract talk.

It is causing problems not only for our club but others, with team morale dropping, etc etc.

If player managers want to start talking and lining up deals fair enough, but no contracts can be signed or deals agreed to till that side is out of the running for that season.

It's destroying our game and there is almost more reporting on "real life supercoach", than the actual football.

Plus it would shut down the paper rumour mills that create disharmony in teams.

There's no way to stop it.
If the NRL introduce a ban on signing contracts in the season, There will be speculation.
If they ban speculation, there will be indirect speculation (like the sssh, columns)
While ever they need to sell papers and subscriptions, they'll continue to fabricate sources.

They definitely need to do something about it, but not sure they will. Even though it disrupts teams, it generates discussion, media attention etc which the NRL no doubt likes.

Player managers would hate it too, because they would lose the ability to play a lot of the mind games they play now to raise players prices.

I don't see what the big deal is ,a player at a club like Eastwood no longer suits a certain club and another club wants him and vice versa ,it's a good thing and creates interest in the game ,look at union no one gives a shit

just make 1 year deals for everyone, would put this back ended deal bullshit to bed.
have a player market during the off season, would make the off season media interesting, while freeing up the season for football.
players like ben hunt would no longer be able to fuck the market by driving up prices because all halfbacks would be up for sale
