Rugby league great Greg Alexander was left stunned by the Bulldogs’ impressive trials display, while Andrew Voss was equally impressed by the Broncos.

Cameron Ciraldo’s outfit, without a cohort of regular first graders, downed Craig Bellamy’s Storm who were also missing several big-name stars.

CAN THE BULLDOGS CARRY THEIR FORM INTO THE 2024 SEASON?

Ciraldo utilised his youth against the Storm and Alexander has singled out two young guns he was very impressed by.

He was also stunned by just how impressive the Bulldogs were in their first hitout of the season, potentially signalling there’s big things to come when the club’s next crop rise through the ranks.

I (couldn’t believe) how impressive the Dogs were,” Alexander said.

“There are some selection headaches for Cameron Ciraldo. There are questions about who he will play in the halves but the youngsters gave us a picture for the future.

“A whole host of them were impressive such as Joseph O’Neill and Joash Papalii. They are very good and all the chat about the juniors was confirmed on Thursday night.”

Ciraldo also has a huge halves headache on his hands, with both Toby Sexton and Drew Hutchison performing against Melbourne.

Meanwhile, Bronson Xerri’s return from a four-year NRL hiatus was a major success and he could push for a starting spot come Round 1.

It was so obvious to see those young kids weren't held back with the loser badge that a lot of our First Graders have.

Future is bright if we stay a little more patient.
Yep. Have to blood these youngsters at the right time IMO. Hopefully we're winning by the time they debut and they aren't under huge amounts of pressure.

But it's nice to have the lower grades stacked with talent again.

What’s with the surprise Brandy, did you have your head in the sand all those years Gould coped crap while rebuilding the Panthers ?

Or maybe you’re just delusional and credit yourself with how that success has come about ..

Well said. Those who we’re comfortable with losing been moved on. We’re on the right track now.

Its been ages since we blooded youngsters in the trials and they excelled and lived up to the hype.
Great times for our club in the near future.

I am surprised he is allowed on TV, surely he is flogging himself under the desk 24/7.
In his defence, he does seem more articulate than some of the other commentators on Fox, especially the Queenslanders.
It's asking a lot to expect intelligent commentary from people who made a living out of bashing their heads against each other & spent their night off wrestling in casino car parks.
If clarity of thought is important in what people watch, then the World Chess Championship might be a better viewing option.
An interesting thread might be suggestions for music to play with the NRL on mute?
My kids won't watch unless I put on something like Mushkaa. LOL.

I don't read the Telegraph so not sure what that wonderful "Mastheads" take on the youngsters form was/will be. They can't seem to say anything positive about the club so maybe they won't mention anything about this.

Brandy is a flog! That is all.
Totally agree. He's agenda driven, tin eared with a glass jaw. Happy to dump on clubs and teams in his commentary, but when he gets criticised, he's brittle and borderline silly

I don't take any comfort from praise from him or his mate fittler (should it come).

I do take comfort from our energy and shape in attack, much better starch in defense and those brilliant juniors.

Joseph O’Neill & Joash Papalii are our future 7 & 1. Hopefully they develop this year in NSW Cup then take over the positions in 2025. Need to make sure that we don't lose them to other clubs or ruin their development by playing them too early.

Yeah I'd keep them in cup for as long as possible until they're both physically and mentally ready for first grade. We don't want another Luke Brooks scenario where they have the burden of carrying the team at such a young age.

Sure we will lose a few good players along the way however our halves academy will have young talent lining up for the opportunity to take their game to NRL level

we already have close to 10 prodigious players in that system -letting a player like Jonah Glover go shows only the best will get the opportunity
