Neighbour dobs in Sydney bondage house10:00 AEST Mon Dec 8 20084 hours
Residents of the leafy Sydney suburb of South Turramurra have broken a long-standing code of silence by making a formal complaint about a secret underground fetish club.
Every two months, the inconspicuous North Shore brick home is converted into a sadomasochistic dungeon where like-minded people are encouraged to "go hard or go home".
Tony and Anne Walker — who transform themselves into Master Tony & Angel — have been holding the events since 2003 and will host "Hardcore Heaven 22" on New Year's Eve.
But after five years of neighbourhood discretion — including one event where locals reportedly helped the Walkers cook a barbeque for an event — at least one resident of Chisholm Street has complained to Ku-ring-gai council.
"We have received one complaint and are looking into the issue, but really, what goes on behind closed doors has nothing to do with our regulations," the Daily Telegraph reported a council spokesman as saying.
But the Walkers have downplayed the protest.
"I don't think we have any problems with any neighbours," Mrs Walker was reported as saying.
"We just have a few friends over and what we do is our business."
Their website says their business caters to "straight, bisexual, gay, lesbian, cross dressers and transgender" people whose fetishes include "bondage, corporal punishment, latex, corsetry, foot fetish, domination, submission, spanking and role-play".
But Mr Walker denied anything too hardcore was taking place under his roof, where they "believe in pain and pleasure in equal measure".
"There's a million and one other places around Sydney, if you fished around, you'd find a lot more going on at their events than what goes on at ours," Mr Walker said.
"It's very mild."
