Need help with a plan

I’m with Optus
I hate Optus, but shit there nbn has been great
$79 per month , unlimited plus a channel pack thru Foxtel and fetch box with 30 free movies a month and free EPL if you watch that
Never ever had a drama with speed, connection etc in 2 years
Always been a Telstra man with my phones etc but seriously considering the switch for my phone now, there deals are way better

Didn't want to make a new thread.
Moving house and want to change ISP away from TPG.
I have heard good things about Leaptel, anyone use them ?

I'm currently with Telstra. Unlimited NBN, great speed.

If you want the best, you gotta pay for the best, but in a time where heaps of people are WFH and at least 2 devices streaming services are running, you want something reliable.

I am now with a gold coast based company, but they are Aussie wide.

Onthenet

No lock in contract, Aussie call centre.

It's based at Varsity Lakes. I called in there to speak to them. I had a plan I wanted. Told them my details & they suggested a lower paying plan.

I have been with them for a year, Aussie owned and operated and great service, can get a discount from 6 months to a year depending on the plan you sign up for.
Sounds pretty good, the only thing that's holding me back is the stock standard TP link modem they provide as it has shit reviews.

In the past I have had Netgear modem that was qualified for full network support from TPG and caused me much pain haha.

Yeah been with Telstra before and had no dramas, not sure I want to pay over $100 a month at this stage. I don't game anymore, just streaming so going cheaper is favourable for me ATM

Are you able to get a referral code from your account? Intrigued to see if it will work with Black Friday offers.

Can you BYO.

I changed from Vodafone & I bought the modem from onthenet. It's a Tp-link VX230v & never had a problem with it.

That's good to know you haven't had a problem with the router, as that's the one Leaptel provide.
I was looking at getting TP Link AX21 for BYO

I call them all modems. lol

Most ISP's would choose middle of the range routers etc. They wouldn't want to sell cheap shit ones & then have to replace them later on.

You know what people are like, they complain about anything. Eg: router took too long to restart after the power came back on after the category 5 cyclone, so they give it 1 star. lol

Yeah very true, and most people generally write reviews when they are shitty and haven't thought about the issue properly.
I think I will sign up for Leaptel and opt in for the router. Thanks for the help

Telstra isn’t the best, local support trumps overseas and local provides are next to the same when it comes to connection quality (provider depedent) and some are better.

Stock hardware is crap, go for a tp link Deco that matches your requirements/nbn type.

Leaptel don’t have a username and password like most providers and you can opt out of cgnat unlike most.

Sure, I’ll PM you the code.

I’m with Telstra. It’s solid

some of these 2nd or even 3rd tier internet providers are like driving around in a haval jolion in peak traffic when telstra is driving a Mercedes full throttle on the open road

I once noticed my internet was a little slow and called Telstra.. they cranked it up from their end and I was all good.. all the bodgy internet providers would have been buffering hard at that point with no end in sight

I agree that local support is better, won't argue there, but the reliability of Telstra isn't matched in Australia. If Optus fell over last year, anyone beneath them can as well.

Telstra had their infrastructure set up ready for the NBN years before the rollout, and therefore the upgrades to said infrastructure were good to go because all the foundations had already been laid.

Optus is trash and its that simple, they are bottom of the barrel when it comes to the NBN.

You do you but there are better providers out there, I'd take Aussie broadband over telstra when it comes down to their network and reach, Future broadband, Launtel and Leaptel are all Aussie owned and operated and aren't far behind.
