A while back I was convinced we really needed a specialist fullback. I'm now starting to think we might actually be better off with a specialist hooker and Nathan Peats is the perfect fit.

He ticks all the boxes including the one of pedigree with his dad Geordie being a member of the Bulldogs back in the late 80's from memory. Thoughts?

i think Foran fixes both organising half and hooker problem

With Foran calling the shots the hooker only needs to follow his instructions

So fullback more important than hooker now

He's constantly injured though, will be suprised if he makes it through the SOO period in one piece.

Hooker is a much more important position then fullback.

The Hooker is the neck of the team and all attack initially stems off him.

Hopoate is a great Fullback and currently isn't our issue. Our issue is the Hooker, and Peats is the current NSW Hooker available to be signed. How dumb would we have to be to not give it a shot chasing him?

The thing that continues to come back to me is that our forwards, considered our biggest strength, require the best possible service to be effective and the hooker is also critical in organising them around the park as well as steering the team to the best attacking points on the field. He would also tighten up our Defence, he's always first out of the blocks leading his pack and barking at them all game. Invaluable!

I think Peats is the priority.
He will help the forwards gain more meters and make the team more potent in attack.

With regard to fullback, if Hopoate resigns I'm happy with him at fullback.

You'd think we are a solid chance given the obvious link to the club too so one would think he should be on a short-list of priority signings right? From all accounts he's only after 600k, to me, that's a no-brainer for what we would get in return from him and further improves our "spine".

Our forward pack is stupidly overrated at this stage.

The Bulldogs forward pack has been its strength since the dawn of time and will continue to be its strength for the rest of eternity. That's just how it is.

Peats easy, then try Mbye at fullback.
Maybe Klemmer starts over Fifita, then we would have the NSW front row;
8. Woods
9. Peats
10. Klemmer
+
11. Jackson
12. Elliot
13. Carter
14. Graham or Tolman (one to leave)
looks pretty good to me.

I agree and disagree. Its true that foran will call the shots, but a good hooker will engage the markers, choose which side of the ruck the play should go and even kick from dummy half. All tgese things happened when garvey came on the field last week. But history shows he is not the most amazing hooker.....

Forwards im ok if we get more, as long as we get good ones. We have 3 aging forwards in tolman graham eastwood. Need to set up for their replacement in the not too distant future. Halves i dont want because it pushes Frawley out and i think he goes good and will improve. And depends if Des puts mbye at 6 or 9 next year. Another half wont help.

Id take a hooker. At fb im satisfied with Hopoate. We have players like montoya is reserve grade most weeks, so we are ok in the backs. I like holland, he needs to improve in defense though. Mozzes to me still go well when the team is. They are finishers so will be quiet if nobody is starting anything. Lee is great in attack and should improve in defense. Main issue this year has been getting the right 6 7 9 combo all the time.

Best combo we have this year is 6 Reynolds 7 Frawley 9 Mbye. We look awesome the entire time we have this combo.

I absolutely think peats would be the best signing. We have hoppa at fullback currently who is likely to re-sign, and abbey coming along in ISP. So i figure hoppa will likely move to centre at the end of next year if the morris boys are moved on, and abbey will come in to replace him.
I Also think its possible that mbye can flourish in the halves with foran and a quality hooker who can actually read the game and pass from dummy half.
For me its a no brainer. PEATS!!!
