To start this season I'd have said that Thompson and Cotric were the only ones considered marquee players. DWZ, Napa and Hopoate would once have been labelled that way, but not for a while.

Next year it's likely that Thompson, TPJ, Burton, JAC Cotric fit the label of marquee players.

Realistically, you can only have two at the outside three marquee players given they’ll be on marquee money. Gus isn’t gonna make a desperate signing on marquee money for ‘22 simply because there’s none available.

My tip is the players he’s got his eyes on to be on marquee money for ‘23 are Burton and Latrell (if he can pry him out for ‘23, if not. ‘24). And if we can afford it, an as yet unidentified #7 for ‘23 or ‘24, who may be one of our own if they step up.

Remember Gus has said most important positions 1, 6 & 7. That’s where he’ll spend the big money. He won’t spend it on 9, he’ll be happy with a tradie who gets the job done.

Which is why there’s won’t be any Cheese.
