Big money, he’d only cost £120k on the salary cap as a marquee
That would be very tempting for him and who could blame him if he walked away and accepted any of those deals but in UK.

My pov is solely about his legacy and reputation here at the Bulldogs.

Those who dont think much of his him or his stint here wont give 2 hoots but those that did see a great player who would be a real asset with the Bulldogs will wonder on the 'what if' he had an injury free season. What if he played like he did in UK. What if he wasnt one our highest paid paid players so copped more of a bagging.

Even "what if" the lousy refs gave him his 2 disallowed legitimate tries and stopped persecuting him as a Bulldog.

Anyway his future is in his own hands. Good luck to him.

If his contract finishes this year then who gives a shit what he does next year. That's his issue.

If he does stay, i am 100% certain he wont get nowhere near what he is currently on. I wouldn't mind him at 400max especially after the free money he got for the last few seasons.

And im sure Gus has already stated somewhere that he won't be resigned in

Yeah, anyone who gets injured should be shot. How dare he deliberately injure himself, same as Kikau and Fox,they did it on purpose too. I blame the coach
Thompson though has spent much more time injured or suspended than playing, and we are paying a crapload for that. If he was on half the money it would still be a issue, just a less expensive one.

Money aside, it's largely been beyond his control. His suspensions came amid the nrls previous "prior loading" suspension era. And i bet he would gladly return some of the money,if it meant he could be Injury free.

BS you can’t blame a player for taking the money. They have a limited time as pro footballer and they should make as much as the possibly can.
If he read TK why would he stay with all the ‘supporters’ comments here
Bs mate.

I’ve been in a contact sport a period of my life and I disagree there.

Money is one thing but let’s be honest. Thompsons contract is arguably as bad as trez or Napa for us. We have supported him in hard times with family, suspensions, head knocks etc. he’s been a liability for us and it’s not like he’s short changed after milking us for a few mil and barely playing.

If that was me I’d feel I owe the club something on their return. Not saying do it for free. Though I believe if he was a genuine bloke like say Jackson he would say to the club I’ve been a horrible few years here and don’t want to be remembered for that and milking the club. Give me a low 1-2 year deal and let me earn my next pay packet.

Flop again? I’m sure esl clubs will pay through the nose for him still. Deliver remotely near his current pay packet he will have nrl clubs and us included wanting to pay.

Jackson would of had several clubs offer more than he had with us in his prime. Never left. No different there.

Like Munster did with storm over dolphins etc sure there’s tons of blokes like it.

Thurston with cowboys.

Gallen with sharks.

Lots of these guys loved the club and wanted to repay them for the chance or the times they stuck with them.

Thompson running off for $ now says alot about his character to me when he hasn’t earned 1/4 of his wage here.

Which is what...a standard physical..bone density...??
I'd assume, they'd have a podiatry specialist make sure he was fully recovered and give the club a prognosis in relation to any possible recurrences.
